Request reason:

I am currently "blocked" by someone called Black Kite (who is now unavailable). Black Kite was actually trying to block someone called Bambifan101. I don't know why I'm being blocked unless my URL is somehow similiar. Could someone please 'unblock' me. I haven't edited on here in several months, but I found a page while doing some reseacrch I found a page that needs to be fixed. Thanks (Doctorfun (talk) 18:04, 18 May 2009 (UTC) Cleanup Volunteer)

Decline reason:

Clearing an autoblock

Due to the nature of the block applied we need additional information before we can decide whether to unblock you. It is very likely that you are not personally blocked. If you are prevented from editing, it may be because you are autoblocked or blocked because of your IP address. Without further details there is nothing further we can do to review or lift your block. Please follow these instructions:

  1. If you have a Wikipedia account, please ensure that you are logged in.
Your account name will be visible in the top right of this page if you are.
If it isn't, try bypassing your web browser's cache.
  2. Try to edit the Sandbox.
  3. If you are still blocked, copy the {{unblock-ip|...}} code generated for you under the "IP blocked?" section. This is usually hidden within the "What do I do now?" section. If so, just click the "[show]" link to the right hand side to show this text.
  4. Paste the code at the bottom of your user talk page and click save.
If you are not blocked from editing the sandbox then the autoblock on your IP address has already expired and you can resume editing. J.delanoygabsadds 18:19, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired.

I tried the suggestion above and am still blocked the code I found is pasted below. Thanks (Doctorfun (talk) 13:44, 19 May 2009 (UTC))

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

IPBE granted, see below

Request handled by: -- zzuuzz (talk) 21:54, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

Hello Doctorfun, you are unfortunately sharing the same network as a particularly tenacious banned wikivandal, however since you are clearly not the vandal in question I have granted you an exemption to the block. See WP:IPBE for the details. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 21:54, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Luther B. Bridgers[edit]

Dr. Fun, take a look at the talk page for Luther B. Bridgers. It is a common misconception that he wrote "He Keeps Me Singing" after his wife and three children died in a house fire on March 26, 1911. Truth is, he wrote it in 1909---and the music is based on a secular hit song of 1903, "Melody of Love" by Hans Engelmann. See link for youself---and check out Engelmann's song on Youtube. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.57.163.80 (talk) 00:55, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

Looks good - thanks Doctorfun (talk) 03:12, 26 June 2014 (UTC)

Joe Hilley[edit]

Doctor, Wikipedia footnote style says that we leave multiple footnotes separate instead of combining them with a "see also" comment. You might want to read WP:REF. Otherwise, good work on the article. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 05:10, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Okay. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll remember it in the future. Doctorfun (talk)

Copyright problems with Laton E. Holmgren[edit]

Hello. Concerning your contribution, Laton E. Holmgren, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.nytimes.com/2004/01/22/us/laton-earle-holmgren-88-directed-the-american-bible-society.html%7Caccessdate=4. As a copyright violation, Laton E. Holmgren appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Laton E. Holmgren has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Laton E. Holmgren and send an email with the message to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that it is licensed under the CC-BY-SA license, leave a note at Talk:Laton E. Holmgren with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you hold the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Laton E. However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. While contributions are appreciated, Wikipedia must require all contributors to understand and comply with its copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright concerns very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you. Yasht101 (talk) 02:38, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Not a copyright problem. I was only just getting started on the article when you put up the notice. I'm continuing to work on the piece. Please consider removing the notice. Thanks (Doctorfun (talk) 03:17, 4 February 2012 (UTC))
Okay. I have declined its deletion.
Fair enough, I admit I jumped the gun on that one. The patrolling admin (who makes the ultimate decision on whether to speedily delete the article or not) decided not to delete it anyway, so no harm done.
In future, if you're working on an article that isn't complete yet, try placing a tag { { underconstruction } } (without the space in between the brackets) on that article or creating a subpage of your userpage and creating the article there first. How to do so is explained here. Then, once you've completed the article to an acceptable standard, you can create the article properly and copy everything from the subpage to the main article. That way, you're less likely to leave half-finished articles lying around, which other users may mark for deletion. Happy editing! --Yasht101 (talk) 04:43, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Good idea. Thanks for the help (Doctorfun (talk) 04:45, 4 February 2012 (UTC)}

Always welcome and if u need any kind of help then feel free to ask me. --Yasht101 (talk) 05:05, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of Ernie Steury[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Ernie Steury has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
