Speedy deletion nomination of Thoby Young
[edit]Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as Thoby Young, to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Triwbe (talk) 11:59, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit]You have an obvious conflict of interest, please don't write about yourself, your friends or relatives and read the guidance below:
- When you write about a person, you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that they meet the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the person or an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the person claims or interviewing them. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls.
- Almost all of your bare url refs were unacceptable, they include IMDB, sales sites for his audio books, theatre directories and social media.
- He's probably notable, but we need to know what independent sources say about him, your text is basically what he says about himself.
- You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
- such as His aptitude for languages has helped him bring a wide variety of accents to life... used his building skills He's recorded over 100 titles... with more than 1700 5* ratings Even if the last claim was verified, his notability doesn't depend on what people think of his work
- There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
- You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
- I didn't check the text, but we have established that the image was unacceptable as explained above
Not a reason for deletion, but your text was almost devoid of wikilinks, let's look at the first sentence, which could have been "Richard Trinder (born 1968) is a British actor, audiobook narrator, voice artist and musical theatre performer best known for playing Death Eater Augustus Rookwood in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011). Further film roles include Loytnant Lewis in Kon Tiki (2012)."
Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article. If you are writing about yourself, or someone you know as a friend, colleague, client, employer or relative, you have a conflict of interest, and you must disclose the nature of that COI.
Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:37, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, he is not a friend, he is a professional actor who asked for some assistance as out of date information about him is common on the internet. Full disclosure, he has narrated a book I wrote. How do you disclose information of this kind without promoting yourself which I know is not acceptable.
- Why is IMDB not acceptable when it is a reference site for films and the people who work in them?
- No text is copied from anywhere, but I note that the tone is not quite right and will amend.
- Thank you for your time and assistance. Dodman (talk) 18:12, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
