Plugging your website

[edit]

Please do not add advertising or inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. --Karuna8 (talk) 17:50, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Friendly reminder: it's still bad form to be plugging your websites. You may be a subject expert, and should use that knowledge to make Wikipedia better, but managing links to your own website is uncool. --24.18.27.74 (talk) 17:48, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Curious about copyrights

[edit]

Just curious as to who owns the copyrights to the materials in the external links you're adding to the Alfred Adler article? Per WP:Copyright only Public Domain materials may be used in Wikipedia unless perhaps specific permission is granted by the copyright holders.

October 2009

[edit]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 15:46, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.
