Welcome!
Hey everyone! I'm new to Wikipedia and I am getting the hang of things. I have moved to Atlanta from New York City- and I LOVE Atlanta! It's the best city I've ever been to and I'm glad that I am living in this dynamic city. I don't plan to move any time soon since I am in school in Cobb County and Atlanta has so many opportunities for people who are in college who are looking to start a career and looking to purchase their first home.
While this is sad, I was born and raised in New York- lived there for 18 years of my life. Since moving down to Atlanta in 2005 to begin attending college, I know more about Atlanta than those who are locally born here- and I know more about Atlanta than I know about my native New York. Atlanta has so much more growth potential than New York. New York is a well established city- Atlanta is an up and coming city. Opportunities for people my age is better in Atlanta, as well as cheaper versus New York.
I'm not knocking on New York... it's an awesome city- no city can compare to the things to do there and the fact that it is the financial capital of the world. However, its just not a city for growth and a city that is not easy to live in. The quality of life in Atlanta is much better and the city is growing and becoming a center of international influence, which translates into better opportunities for people like me who are looking for a place to start.
The most favorite part of the city is Downtown Atlanta. It contains much of the city's history- and every time I drive in Downtown I'm always fascinated. I'm never bored, even just driving around on Downtown streets. When I walk on Downtown streets I'm even more fascinated. I just LOVE this city. The amazing architecture, the history behind each of the streets (especially the seven original streets), the combination of history and modernity, and the growing tourist attractions. I must say that Downtown isn't always pretty with the panhandlers- but I look past that for the beauty of the area. There's a beauty to Downtown that I cannot associate with other cities.
Midtown Atlanta is up and coming and just as beautiful to walk down and look at. All of the new condos and office buildings make Midtown THE destination to be. It's clean and becoming very high end. While it eclipses Downtown in the beauty column in the context of buildings, streets, landscape, etc, Midtown lacks the history of Downtown by a long shot. However, Midtown is an up and coming thriving area which is one of the crown jewels of the city.
OK, I've raved quite a bit on how much I LOVE this city... I'll rave about some more stuff later.
Thanks to your addition to Downtown Atlanta. A Softer Answer (talk) 18:54, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

- You are welcome - If you want a guide to a good neighborhood article, look at South Side (Chicago) for a "Featured Article" or Gulfton, Houston (I contributed to this one mostly) for a "Good article" WhisperToMe (talk) 04:27, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
