Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Dzreinstein. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Journal of Refractive Surgery, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

Deletion discussion about Ursula Reinstein[edit]

Hello, Dzreinstein,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Ajpolino and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Ursula Reinstein should be deleted. Your comments are welcome over Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ursula Reinstein .

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not ballot-polls. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Ajpolino}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Hello! I just wanted to leave a note to explain the templated message above. Wikipedia only contains articles on topics that meet its notability criteria. In general, in order to have an article a topic must be the subject of substantial coverage in multiple reliable sources independent of the subject. For academics, who rarely receive much media attention, we have an alternate guideline allowing for articles on academics who clearly have made substantial impacts in their field, but who may not receive the same media attention as, for example, a similarly exceptional basketball player or film actor. I couldn't find references to suggest that Ursula Reinstein meets either the general notability criteria or the the academic ones, so I nominated the article for deletion. Deletion discussions usually go on for 1-2 weeks and any editor is welcome to contribute. If you believe the topic meets one or more of the criteria I cited, please go to the deletion discussion (linked in the templated message above) and note why you believe that to be the case. Thanks for your time! I hope all is well. Happy editing! Ajpolino (talk) 22:12, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
