Shaklee
[edit]I have reverted your changes to Shaklee, because they removed significant material and valid citations without an adequate explanation. Please try again without blanking what's already there. ~Anachronist (talk) 22:19, 7 July 2019 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Shaklee. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 23:00, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, EJMPK. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Shaklee, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 23:01, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
hey there, i do not have any conflict. I finished a paper on Dr. Shaklee for a class i took. The information provided on the current Shaklee page is really really poorly written and sadly lacks source information, not to mention several errors. I did create the Dr. Shaklee page because one does not exist.
Reverting talk page edits
[edit]Your edit (this edit) to my talk page was a revert which restored vandalism I had previously removed. You can, if you must, create a new section. If you cannot figure out how to do that, post here and I will see it. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 23:16, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
Thanks! Sorry i am new to Wikapedia. I am just trying to update the information with provable sourced info. I am not being paid, i just have a ton of information about Dr. Shaklee and the Shaklee corporation from a paper i wrote.
- Thank you for clarifying. While being paid to edit would be a serious issue (per WP:PAID), it is not the only form a conflict of interest can take. If you a a distributor of Shaklee, you have a conflict of interest, and should proposes changed on the article's talk page, at Talk:Shaklee.
- Regardless of that, phrases like
Shaklee Corporation elevated and deepened its clinical protocols...
are completely inappropriate for an encyclopedia. Please summarize according to reliable, independent sources. Do not add WP:PEACOCK word, and do not add first-hand knowledge (which is original research). As a very general rule-of-thumb, if a reliable, independent source doesn't explain something, it doesn't belong in the article. Thanks. Grayfell (talk) 23:27, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
Ah gotcha....i am not a distributor. I will rewrite those sections...i totally get what you are saying. In terms of all of the items that are not true on the existing page...should i just make a note? quick p.s., i am a biochem and nutritional major...so that is why i wrote a paper.
- I would advice you not to rewriting those sections. Consider starting over. Find reliable sources and see what they are saying. "Why I Ride Horses" is not a reliable source for this topic. It appears to be a blog, and self-published sources are not generally reliable. Please carefully review WP:RS. If you are interested in biochemistry and nutrition, you should be aware that medical content is held to a higher standard, per WP:MEDRS. You should also be aware that Shaklee and other MLMs often overlap with alternative medicine, which sometimes includes WP:FRINGE claims. Basic claims can be changed or updated to match sources, but please do not combine these routine edits with the addition of new material. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 23:39, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
Fair enough! I appreciate your help. I have a better source so i will not include blogs. I was not fully sure if she was a blog or not...it was a bit hard to tell. For those items which are just not true...(for example, they do sell in Mexio, the revenue is wrong) should i just make a note of why i want to delete it?
- I would suggest making incremental edits, and using edit summaries indicating why each change is made. "Not supported by source", or "Unsourced" is good enough. If your edits are challenged, start a section on the article's talk page explaining how you think the changes improve the article. This is explained at Wikipedia:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle: Make bold edits, and if they are reverted, discuss them. Grayfell (talk) 23:47, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
- Oh, you should also sign your comments to talk pages, including this one. See Help:Signatures. Grayfell (talk) 23:48, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
EJMPK (talk) 23:52, 7 July 2019 (UTC)THANKS!....i know it must be annoying teaching a newbie, so i really do appreicate it. I will for sure make only a few edits...just the most important ones..Again, thank you so much!EJMPK (talk) 23:52, 7 July 2019 (UTC)

EJMPK (talk) 01:46, 8 July 2019 (UTC)hi, sorry if i am doing this wrong. Thank you for your feedback. I went through the article and tried to make it more encyclopedia like. I see where i went wrong. Also, i am a student studying BioChem and Nutrition. When doing a paper on Dr. Shaklee I noticed there was not a page about him on Wikipedia; and the page for Shaklee is really poorly written and has tons of errors. Anyways, i am bringing this up because i see someone in the feedback is asking/suggesting i work for Shaklee, which i don't....nor i am a distributor. This is my first time ever writing a page, and i am LOVING it...but see i need to do better.
