Talk pages

[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. Jeffrey Mall (talkcontribs) - 21:26, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Mike Long (author) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you.  fetchcomms 21:28, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:MikeLongPic.jpg.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria.

If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the image can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

Fair use rationale for File:MikeLongPic.jpg.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:MikeLongPic.jpg.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Angus McLellan (Talk) 13:31, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mike Long (author)

[edit]

Re. Mike Long (author)

Hi there. So, all should be fine; if you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

Please do add Wikilinks, e.g. [[sausage]] and I am a [[Dentistry|dentist]] - sausage and I am a dentist.

For help with those 'citations', see user:chzz/help/refs

You might also want to add an template:infobox person - see example, user:chzz/help/infobox.

Also, important tip - you could submit it to appear on the front page, as a 'Did you know...' item - but you need to do that within the next week; see WP:DYKS.

Ask for more help, any time. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  17:18, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Chzz, Thanks so much, your assistance was truly appreciated! I am trying to incorporate the infobox now :) I hope I do it correctly. --Elizabethmdodd (talk) 17:23, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I added it to Michael Long; you might want to add more 'incoming links' from other articles, too. If you get stuck with anything, just ask us for help again.  Chzz  ►  17:26, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Did you know

[edit]

So, I submitted the article as a did you know suggestion, which is currently in Template talk:Did you know#Articles created.2Fexpanded on April 5. Please check on it; if it disappears, it might be in the queue. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  04:55, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:MikeLongPic.jpg.png

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:MikeLongPic.jpg.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
  • If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.
  • To opt out of these bot messages, add {{bots|deny=DASHBot}} to your talk page.
  • If you believe the bot has made an error, please turn it off here and leave a message on my owner's talk page.
