No, I think you misunderstand. I'm not arguing that Image:Moogle.png does not qualify for fair use. The issue is that, as a fair use image, it cannot be used outside of the article namespace. Which means that it cannot be included on templates or on user pages. The reasoning is that, to quote, "the material must contribute significantly to the article (e.g. identify the subject of an article, or specifically illustrate relevant points or sections within the text) and must not serve a purely decorative purpose." Since the stated purpose of Wikipedia is to provide an encyclopedia, we cannot rationalize using copyrighted images for non-encyclopedic purposes: all fair use rationales have to be framed in the context of how said material contributes to the goals of the site, and user pages do not contribute directly to those goals.

But that's just the rationale behind the guideline, and I apologize if I confused the issue by bringing it up. The long and short of it is that site guidelines expressly forbid us to use non-free images anywhere other than real articles, regardless of rationale. It's explicitly stated here (the second-to-last bullet point): "they should never be used on templates (including stub templates and navigation boxes) or on user pages." Simple: If you review the requirements for "No Original Research" you'd see that it says,

Original research is a term used on Wikipedia to refer to material added to articles by Wikipedia editors that has not been published already by a reputable source. In this context it means unpublished theories, data, statements, concepts, arguments, and ideas; or any new interpretation, analysis, or synthesis of published data, statements, concepts, arguments that, in the words of Wikipedia's co-founder Jimbo Wales, would amount to a "novel narrative or historical interpretation".

The section that was removed was,

One of the names mentioned in the orientation video in series 2 is de Groot. This name is shared by a 20th century chess master and psychologist Adriaan de Groot who did significant research in the area of memory. This could prove to be particularly relevant given that most episodes show past memories of the characters, and that the black smoke seems to read Mr. Eko's memory in The 23rd Psalm.

• Actually, it isn't just "the only real issue is that there is no official source to confirm this outside of the facts presented"; it's that claiming a connection between the name of a fictional character, and someone else with a similar name, without having a verifiable source for that basis is speculative-- thus not encyclopedically valid. We are attempting to raise the status of the Lost articles to qualify for "featured" status, which means excluding such fancruft as name theories (of which we've excised quite a few). Minor Question on the Cowboy Bebop Article

In the Brain Scratch episode, you say that "Ein is apparently also able to hack computers via a brain wave interface (demonstrated in episode 23, "Brain Scratch"), further indication of his abnormal capabilities.)

However, I was under the impression that they were using Ein simply to use Ein's heightened doggie senses for him to be able to stop/avoid the unconscious/subliminal hypnotization -- or at least the comic relief of them deeming him 'expendable'.
