How to add template in another language?

[edit]

ENG: How do I know how to use a template in another language when translating? When just copied it says "Template:Escyr" with red text. Can anyone please help?

Look up the page for the English Wikipedia template and see whether there's a Swedish version. Not all templates exist in all languages. Template:Escyr doesn't have a Swedish version; you'll likely have to duplicate its effects manually. Luckily that's not particularly difficult here since the template merely adds a link to an article. Huon (talk) 23:52, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
And how do I do that? As I said, I'm new here... I tried looking into the template in the english version but I didn't see what to change for it to work in swedish. Thank you. Emirkir (talk) 10:57, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The Escyr template is a convenience template that makes it easier to link to Eurovision contests by type and year. Instead of using the template in the translated page, you should figure out where the template links to in the English page and replace the template with the link. If you tell us what page you are translating, we can help with that. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 13:26, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
A link to an article is created by double square brackets, like this: Eurovision Song Contest 2019. If you want the displayed text to differ from the title of the target article, you can use a so-called "piped" link: The 2019 Contest will be displayed as "The 2019 Contest" but will still link to the "Eurovision Song Contest 2019" article. See Help:Links for more details on links. Find out what the appropriate Swedish article's title is (e.g. by following the link on the English Wikipedia and checking the target page for a Swedish version), remove the Escyr template from the translated page and replace it with a link to the relevant article. Yeah, I noticed that I haven't linked the page I'm translating... I'm translating https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Eurovision_Song_Contest_winners into Swedish. And the template that should make it easier to link every year isn't working in the Swedish translation, neither have the other templates but those I figured out how to make them work, but I have to change them manually. Do I give you this link? https://sv.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Inneh%C3%A5lls%C3%B6vers%C3%A4ttning&page=List+of+Eurovision+Song+Contest+winners&from=en&to=sv&targettitle=Lista+%C3%B6ver+vinnare+i+Eurovision+Song+Contest&version=2 Emirkir (talk) 14:05, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Translation "work in progress" cannot be seen by others. The English page uses Template:Escyr in rather straightforward ways; the only uses I saw were of this kind: 1964 You can replace those uses of the template with 1964. Change the years as appropriate. It's a bunch of copy-pasting, but not difficult. You could also create a template on the Swedish Wikipedia that takes the place of Escyr, but that's probably no less work. If you want to do that, it's probably better to ask for help with that on the Swedish Wikipedia, not here. Huon (talk) 14:50, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I will ask on the Swedish Wikipedia. Emirkir (talk) 15:03, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
