Just wanted to let you know that I've moved your article Radio Shalom Montreal to the station's actual broadcast call sign CJRS, now that this has been confirmed — Wikipedia policy is that radio stations are titled with their call signs rather than their brand names if they broadcast in a country where call signs are used, known and publicized. The "Radio Shalom Montreal" title will still exist as a redirect, though, so don't feel obligated to remember that call sign if you need to link to it from other articles. Dear Mr. Fayssal,

An editor is continuously vandalising my Bio over dispute related to Talk:Anton Balasingham. The editor tried hard to delete my Bio from wikipedia. You can see the evidence here(1) and here(2)' The editor is taking an undue interest over my Bio and deleted over Citation. I have restored the information. Please you check my Bio whether Citations are enough. Though I have off-line media archives(which are attached on Talk:Rajkumar Kanagasingam, I couldn't bring it to the articles. Please verify the Citations and comment on this.Rajkumar Kanagasingam 03:49, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Accustaiosn against me by a user

[edit]

Please see Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#His_accusations What is the recourse when such accusatiosn are thrown at users ? Also how did you take his word and remove the block without proper investigation when he makes such serious allegatiosn against other established wikipedians against WP:LIBEL. Where is the fairness in the process as far as the accused wikipedains are concerned ? Thanks RaveenS 13:47, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Protection

[edit]

I would like to ask you to protect my userpage, because I have had it. Embargo 15:02, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unprotect my userpage. I have discussed the issue with admins long ago. Many people express their political views on their userpages. Now I see what kind of person you are. Leave me alone, I am sorry for thinking you could help me. Unprotect my userpage if you will, I have every right to have this userbox. Embargo 15:29, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bias to your Sephardic brethren is flagrant. You have no right to do what you did. My userbox has been discussed long ago, and everyone decided I have the right to keep it. If users have the right to express support for Israel and contempt of Hezbollah, I have the right to express the opposite. Avoid double standards. Now unprotect my userpage, and stop provoking me into insulting you. Embargo 15:38, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Things you fail to understand

[edit]
  • X supports Y is not harming to anyone.
  • X supports Y against Z's MASSACRES is annoying and disrespecting other contributors. It creates a bad atmosphere and dealing w/ it is time consuming. Read What can I not have on my user page? for more information.
  • You wrote If users have the right to express support for Israel and contempt of Hezbollah. Wrong. You have the right to support whoever you want but do not disrespect others by saying that the commit massacres. We removed every userbox which mentioned that Hezbollah is a murderer and Israeli massacres is no different than that. This must come to an end.
  • You wrote Avoid double standards...and stop provoking me into insulting you. I am not provoking you BUT you are the one provoking other people because of your userbox. No one is insulting you.
  • You wrote Bias to your Sephardic brethren is flagrant. Sephardi are people just like you and me and it is your bias when you make a difference. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up ® 16:15, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Why don't you concentrate on editing instead of spending all the time arguing about a userbox? -- FayssalF - Wiki me up ® 16:15, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Look "Fayssal" I'm not going to repeat it again. It has been decided that my userbox stays. Many people have the same sort of userbox. Many people express their political opinion rather violently. You don't get to decide what I want to have on my userpage. You are asked for the last time to avoid trouble, and unprotect my userpage. Do not take it this far. This is the last time. Embargo 00:07, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This was already discussed, and it was supposed to stay as "This user supports armed resistance against hostilities", without mention of Israel. User:Nyp is responsible for reverting to a version which mentioned Israel, but it is fair to say that one supports armed resistance to hostilities in general. − Twas Now ( talkcontribse-mail ) 13:47, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A Sephardic Moroccan Jew

[edit]

This is what i was talking about at the section above (i.e. things you fail to understand). You presume that i am a Sephardic Moroccan Jew. This means, according to your logic, that my actions are biased and that i was unfair to you as you are a supporter of Hezbollah!

First, i am an Arab Muslim Moroccan and my personal name (Fayssal) may tell you a bit about that. Second, i removed all useboxes that mention Hezbollah is a murderer long before you created your account. Third, i am editing wikipedia and fulfilling my tasks as an admin and know that Wikipedia is not a soapbox and the main task is editing. Your account spent most of the time dealing w/ the userbox instead of concentrating in editing. Fourth, you have the right to keep a userbox as long as you are not bothering anyone. So why do you insist keeping Israeli massacres on it while asking about the removal of Hezbollah is a murderer. Isn't that considered a double standard? -- FayssalF - Wiki me up ® 15:09, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, FayssalF. I notice that you recently experimented with a reduced font size on the Refererences section of the Battleship article. Do you mind if I change it back? The smaller font is very difficult to read on my monitor, and seems inappropriate for such a large area of text.

You may reply here if you wish; I have added this page to my watchlist. Regards, John Moore 309 11:59, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi John. No worries. You can change it back of course. I just wanted to gain some space as the article is so long but your concerns are pretty valid as well. Cheers. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up ® 12:05, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just followed the link given which states: The Truth About the Talmud is copyrighted material excerpted from Michael A. Hoffman's book, "Judaism's Strange Gods" which was published in the year 2000 - Unauthorized duplication is strictly forbidden. Btw, this addition was added by User:Benyehuda on its own page on 11 March 07 and was subsequently deleted by User:Newyorkbrad. The next previous day exactly the same was added by User:Thestick. I am convinced User:Thestick was trying to add offensive material under a different username. I asked User:Newyorkbrad if any action should be taken (if there was enough evidence) against this sock-puppetry. I have not yet had a reply. Chesdovi 12:42, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What...The...Hell? thestick 13:21, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I created that section on march 10th, nice distortion of the facts chesdovi . Also I think citing Hoffman's article is fair use, it was not a 'reproduction' and was written in 3rd person. thestick 13:24, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Try to source it and change the wording. That would sort out the issue. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up ® 13:26, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I sourced with a link to Hoffman's page too, also I didnt write about racism in the talmud , I wrote about the verses considered by michael hoffman as racist/hate literature. Any suggestions? thestick 13:30, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Try to rewrite it and discuss it at the article talk page. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up ® 13:34, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The truth is that all the quotes User:Thestick added are in fact the real distortions. Maybe it should be placed under conspiracy theories, Historical revisionism, Anti-Semitism, Hate site etc. Chesdovi 13:37, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, according to the usage we get to work with in wikipedia, the title allegations is suitable as in Hamas#Accusations and denial of antisemitism, Criticism of the Qur'an and Criticism of Islam. The important things are neutrality and verifiability which i believe are both respected till now. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up ® 13:46, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Let User:Thestick neutralise the article by providing the rebuttals as well not just quotes which offend. Why should someone else have to do the work? Chesdovi

Punic inscriptions

[edit]

Yes, thank you, it helps (the book is a little bit expensive - will get in a library). By the way is there any connection between the massive conversion to Judaism in North Africa and the Punics? Was just wondering because St. Augustinus mentioned that these Canaanites spoke a language quite similar to Hebrew with whom they shared quite a lot of culture, expect the number of gods and some other habits. Isaac, the mahout of Charlemagne's elephant, gave me the idea. Just in case you have an idea on this topic, would be nice to add some info after the Third Punic War. More (books)

[edit]
Thanks for the quick answer, well, the history of what is Hebrew, Phoenician and what these Canaanites do share or not is quite interesting. Research uses sometimes Hebrew traditions to understand what we know of Phoenicians and vice versa. So, going really deep into the task could mean to get out what happened in Canaan that led to the rather rural southern area becoming monotheistic, while the old polytheistic belief and institutions continued in the northern cities of Canaan. Of course Canaanite rituals did survive in the Thora and there seems to have been a tendency to adopt or continue some Canaanite practices in ancient Israel. However, that is no longer part of my self-imposed task, but it makes me just wonder whether we do understand the history of Judaism correctly. Personally, I wonder whether the Canaanites were possibly converted by a group of immigrants and thus formed a new ethnicity, what would make it quite a usual event in history. Wandalstouring 12:45, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't know that Jefferson is that much of an issue. Did anyone ever consider that the father in the genealogy and the biological father of one of him or one of his ancestors may not have been the same person? Just makes me wonder. Wandalstouring 14:46, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Salam Alaykum There were some images based on fair use like Image:Iran-chemical.JPG. I replaced some them with images which have been released under GFDL license. Should I put a tag to delete them.Sa.vakilian(t-c)--12:41, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sa.vakilian. If the pictures such as Iran-chemical.jpg are under fair use than i see no need to delete them as they can be used later on when needed. You can replace them inside the article by using the ones GFDL license while preserving them for a future use in case that would be needed. greater morocco

[edit]

hi, i was just wondering - there's a never-ending battle going on over at greater morocco (i think you can guess the outlines of it), and it would be good if you wanted to take a look at it. you're moroccan, know the subject and i've always found you to be a very fair editor.

there's a longer presentation of this on the talk page, but in short, the dispute concerns two competing versions of the page, one of which is a drastically shortened version of the other. i want the original back, since it's frankly so much better, and i'm perfectly willing to have it edited further afterwards to make everyone happy. but i'm reverted every time i try to restore it. i've already tried a RfC, but to no use.

any input is welcome, whether you agree with my position or not, to help move this forward. i'll also ask Francis Tyers to have a look at it, since he's been involved in these issues too. Arre 02:33, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Arre. I've been watching the edit warring going on at a couple of Morocco/WS related articles. I really think i am fed up w/ all the fuss especially that that led to an indef block of Justin.
Nevertheless, i think that both versions are everything but contextual. No context is offered. I do, however, see the Pre-colonial situation and Allal El Fassi and Istiqlal sections as a good background but relating all of this background to every political or military conflict in the region is erroneous. This doesn't mean that the version defended by Wikima and Jalil is the best one.
Another problem w/ both versions is that they employ one source per version. Both versions are clearly missing this important point.
In brief, the main focusal point should be Allal El-Fassi and the ideolgy of the Istiqlal party just after Morocco's independence. As a Moroccan, let me assure you Arre that only few Moroccans know about greater Morocco. I suggest a total rewrite and that should come out from the discussion page. I have no problems at all in participating in the discussion if you, wikima and Jalil would agree w/ a fresh new version. The participation of Francis and collounsbury would be a good thing as well. Cheers mate. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up ® 15:00, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Persian/Arabian Gulf dispute

[edit]

Hi Fayssal,

These articles Persian Gulf naming dispute‎ and Persian Gulf‎ realted to history, name translation, etymology and naming of Persian/Arabian Gulf is protected now , but still looks highly biased with many disputed and controversial information. Discussion is going hot in talk page with many political backgrounds. It looks like an edit war!

I would like to ask you kindly, as an admin, to tag these pages as Disputed "template:neutrality" according to the policies of Wikipedia as it is higly controversial and disputed topic just like Sea of Japan naming dispute, Politics of Khuzestan, History of Palestine, History of ancient Israel and Judah and many other pages talking about this part of the world. I wish users of interested in editing these pages (including myself) reach NPOV as soon as possible. Thanks a lot... Ralhazzaa 10:54, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit]

HI FayssalF,

The article is well referenced, the overview is a summery of the entire article in the same style as any other article. I do understand that you're from Morocco and you have your own POV, but I am still surprised that you're supporting User:Ralhazzaa despite the fact that he was essentially soliciting you based on your background. I'm saying this based on the fact that User:Ralhazzaa had been cherry-picking Arab users and mass-spamming them here on English wikipedia to act as his meat-puppets, before he was asked to stop by the admins here, so now he's doing it in Arabic wikipedia. That's why I don't think such disruptive behavior should be awarded. See my reply on the article's talk page for more details.--Mardavich 12:41, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mardavich. Thanks for the comment. I just want to explain to you some facts re my conditional support to the NPOV tag.
First and above all, being a Moroccan has nothing to do w/ our issue. I call that a stereotyped characterization of co-editors, especially when someone tries to describe the ones w/ whom s/he disagree w/ in order to show the bias. Wrong. I've been here for 2 years now and i've never been engaged in any edit warring or POV pushing, be it in Morocco-related articles or Arab-related articles. Please correct me if i am wrong at this.
If you go back to my conditional support and try to read it carefully, you'd understand what i mean. I know very well the subject Mardavich and know of course that the term Arabian Gulf has been introduced by some Arab countries in the 20th century. However, i pointed out to the fact that the overview section (which is very important) is unreferenced and once it is referenced, my conditional support would shift to an absolute disagree. I have no book ref which i can add it as a ref to that section. Please do if you got one. Again, your message above would have had grounds if only my stance was to support the tag. It wasn't the case.
The problem(s) you raised about Ralhazza doesn't really concern me unless if it was under an RfC on his behaviour. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up ® 13:04, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply. Can you please translate this comment for transparnecy on English wikipedia. Ralhazza has been clearly warned about canvassing other users in POV disputes, it looks like he's doing it now in Arabic and via e-mails to escape any scrutiny of his disruptive conduct. The user is evidently treating Wikipedia as a battle ground. --Mardavich 13:12, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Fayssal. By the way, sorry for any misunderstandings, I didn't mean to imply that you're biased in any ways, I was just giving you a head-up that you're probably being canvased. --Mardavich 13:38, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No worries Mardavich. It is not a big deal and i do understand your attitude. I am not a fan of canvassing and in many times i warned people because of that. I just thought i had to give my opinion this time at the article talk page because i believed it is not a difficult case when every edit is clear but the only thing which was missing was the reference to the overview. So no big deals here. Happy editing. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up ® 13:41, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Fayssal, I would like to turn your attention that Mardavich is accusing me spamming, making puppets, urging to vandalize, and even mentioned that in talk page. He even accused me of.. "Cherry-picking Arab users and spamming them for POV".. moreover you was almost accused of being biased as I contacted you (just coz u can read Arabic as tagged in ur user-page, so u know translation in that page). Here, I would like to invite u to trace my messages and IP to be sure that I am away from war-edit, vandalizing or repeated reverting, neither asking to adopt my POV, things that could be done by other users! Would u ask him to be civil and use proper language and stop accusing others if he could has a high sens of conspiracy? I really start to hate coming to Wikipedia not to be insulted or violated often Ralhazzaa 17:05, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Seek your advice on a page that has been protected for over two months

[edit]

I was going to leave a message on the talk page of User:Robdurbar, the admin who protected the page, but he has decided to stop editing Wikipedia.

Here's the problem. The page in question, Expulsion of Germans after World War II, was protected by Robdurbar on January 18 due to editwarring (of which I was not a participant). (To be precise, I have tried to seek an NPOV stance and I have made edits towards this but I have generally not been involved in the edit warring that led to page protection).

I have been trying to form a consensus so that we could request lifting of the protection but, frankly, I have failed as the editors in question preferred to fight on the Talk Page with incivility including personal attacks. Even my suggestions that we seek mediation have been ignored.

In the last two weeks, the volume of debate has gone done but there has been little sign of increased civility and collegiality amongst the disputants. Mostly, I would say that the worst offenders have quieted down and one or two editors have shown some interest in lifting the protection but without a willingness to agree to a consensus or even to abide by the principles of Wikipedia (WP:CIVIL, WP:NPOV, WP:3RR and WP:NPA).

I have deliberately been waiting to see if things would change but, at this point, I think two months of page protection is excessive and it is time to return to editing.

If edit warring resumes after page protection is lifted, the only recourse that I see is to go to ARBCOM which I would prefer not to do but I can't see what else could be done.

Do you agree with my approach to this issue in the past and my proposed way forward?

--Richard 15:48, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As per your discussion above, i am semi-protecting the article after being fully protected for a couple of weeks. Please try to avoid edit warring or else i'll have to fully protect it again and open an RfC file. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up ® 15:56, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Update

[edit]

User:Ralhazzaa is not a new user, he's clearly familiar with the INs and OUTs of Wikipedia both here and on Arabic wikipedia, he's been citing Wiki policies which is another sign of his familiarity with Wikipedia, yet he's deliberately ignoring admin warnings regarding his ongoing disruptive spamming/canvassing campaign. After numerous admin warnings and even after your own warning, he continues canvassing users on Arabic wikipedia to this minute [4] for meat-puppetry purposes on English wikipedia. I've been told that User:Ralhazzaa is also canvassing users on IRC chat's Arabic wikipedia channel. Please look into this issue, and take any actions necessary. Rgards --Mardavich 20:23, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is it programmed personal attck, Mardavich? I can't understand why u and others "warning" me in my personal page and discuss openly with other users what punishment I should recieve? Why you want to blam me as many opposing POVs are coming? I could also know that you had accused another users of being meat-puppets in ar.wk! Do u consider asking for "legal advice" and "how to reply an accusation" as a spam? As I don't like to personlize the problems, but it would be more civil not to run a personal attck. Pages of interest are clearly disputed and biased, it is not my problem. Please, kindly, stop any kind of personal attack and accusations Ralhazzaa 21:18, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am urging everyone to calm down and take it easy. We have talked about canvassing before and the link provided above as an evidence of a spamming/canvassing campaign is not 100% correct. In fact, Ralhazzaa was asking for a legal advice from an ar.wiki user which is legitimate.
However, Ralhazzaa forgot that asking someone (especially from anothr wiki) to participate in a debate where he never participated at is a kind of meat-puppetry (see Wiki Meatpuppets) although he didn't ask User:Islamic what to do apart from a legal advice.
The translation of what has been said is the following:
I've been accused lately by a user of sending a collective message across wikipedia in relation to the article Arabian Gulf through the ar wikipedia. Can you provide me with legal advice and share our debate? I am talking about the article in the Arabian Gulf. I also hope you configure your email account.
Now, let get this very straight. Ralhazzaa, you are asked formally now to stop doing what you've been doing. If you really need a legal advice, you can do it but you should never again try to ask people to join a debate where they never participated at especially from outside the en.wiki. Indeed, we got plenty of admins HERE who will be willing to help you in this matter. Mardavich, you cannot follow any user all the way long and try to scrutinize their edits. You got plenty of interesting things to do here. Please guys take this advice and save us some time. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up ® 10:42, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another Arabic-English verification issue

[edit]

With thanks for your help at == Islam and children == there is another translation/verification ongoing issue at Muhammad's slaves that you might see from the talk and histories. One author has insisted on verification of ALL material sourced from a work called Za'd al Ma'ad by Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya. It is only available in Arabic original and I think quite hard to find. The cited page numbers are 160, and 114-116 of Part 1. Would you be able to confirm any or all of what this work says about Muhammad's slaves, their names and characteristics, and his relations with them. Below I excerpt the part of the article that has had problems because of the insistence of verification of the foreign language source. Do you have any ideas for us?

==People personally enslaved to Muhammad==

Muhammad employed several slaves for his domestic needs.[1] One was employed as his tailor.[2] He took, purchased, sold, and gave away slaves. According to Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya, he 'had many male and female slaves, he used to buy and sell them, and he purchased more slaves than he sold'.[3]

Muhammad encouraged manumission of slaves, even if one had to purchase them first. Traditional biographies of Muhammad give many examples where Muhammad's companions, at his direction, freed slaves in abundance. Meer Ismail, a medieval historian, writes in Buloogh al Muram that his household and friends freed 39,237 slaves.[4]. One of Muhammad's slaves was reportedly employed as his tailor.[5]He took, purchased, sold, and gave away slaves. According to Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya, he 'had many male and female slaves, he used to buy and sell them, and he purchased more slaves than he sold'.[6]

Female slaves

[edit]
  • Safiyya bint Huyayy [7][8], according to Islamic account she adopted Islam and became a wife of Muhammad. She lived more than a decade after him as a widow and became involved in the first power politics of the early Muslim community and left a large inheritance to her Jewish family.
  • Maria al-Qibtiyya, a Coptic slave given to Muhammad by a Byzantine official. She gave birth to Ibrahim ibn Muhammad [7] whom Muhammad loved dearly. Some sources indicate that she was freed and became Muhammad's wife, while other sources dispute this.
  • Maria's sister Sirin. He gave her to Hasan Thabit, the poet. Ibn Sa'd says that Muhammad "liked Mariyah, who was of white complexion, with curly hair and pretty."[9]
  • Rayhana bint Zayd.[10][7] Captured after a battle. She tried to poison Muhammad.

Further names of female slaves of Muhammad referred to in Za'd Al-ma'ad: *Salma Um Rafi' [1]*Maymuna daughter of Abu Asib [1]*Maymuna daughter of Sa'd [1]*Khadra [1]*Radwa [1]*Razina [1]*Um Damira [1]Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya lists in addition two other female-slaves. One was given to him as a present by his cousin, Zaynab, and the other one captured in war.

  • Khadra [7]

Male slaves

[edit]
  • Zayd ibn Haritha. Zayd was freed and became Muhammad's adopted son.[11]
  • a black slave called Mahran, who was re-named (by Muhammad) Safina (`ship')." [12] He was 'forced to do more labor than the average man'. Mahran related that on journeys with Muhammed, 'even if I were already carrying the load of 6 or 7 donkeys ... anyone who felt weak would throw his clothes or his shield or his sword on me so I would carry that, a heavy load.'[13]

Some other reported slaves of Muhammad were:

Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya lists: "These are the names of Muhammad's male slaves [12]:

We have a policy on that matter and what you have to do is simply request a username change at Wikipedia:Changing username. The policy states the following:
Usernames that imply an official role or a position with access to additional tools not available to a standard user, such as "Administrator", "Admin", "System operator", "Sysop", "Moderator", "Steward", "Bureaucrat", or "Developer". - (source: Inappropriate usernames). Films

[edit]

Good convenient too. You may be pleased to know I had 3 films on the front page in three days. My most recent is Torrent (1926 film) which will be the fourth!! -it has been nominated so it'll be on the front ion a few days. At present though I am going through the List of Argentine films and completely filling it in -a difficult task!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 15:43, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good idea that list and very accessible. Bravo!! There are so many smaller film festivals missing from wikipedia though!! I forgot also to tell you am drawing up the model for the new Film biography project covering all actors, direcotrs, etc. It needs a tremnedous amoutn of work before it is made main space but it is a start -next step is to modifiy the biography template to incorporate cinema people. What do you think of the overall idea? User:Ernst Stavro Blofeld/Film biography page model is the page ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 15:52, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome and it is a good thing to see many participant. When do you plan to publish the page model? I am sorry for not being able to participate in project for now as i am dealing w/ 4 other projects already. However, i can help from time to time. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up ® 16:01, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When I programme the film bio into the biography template so it will be e.g {bio|director=yes|class=start|importance=high} this way it will put the articles in both biography and film biography categories -this will be when it will be ready and after I add the content of each film medium. Don't worry about not contributing to it - our good friend Anas put his name down as well but has informed me he is rather busy with Wikiproject Syria which is cool!! Its not contribution I am after but rather support for the project and whether you think its a good idea or not. Please add to the disccusion at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals -any input when you have time will always be more than appreciated from you. THanks again amigo, ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 16:08, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi FayssalF! Congratulations for compiling the international film festival list. I am interested in film awards of all kinds (industrial, critics and festivals), so your list will help me a lot connect things where needed. It also helps mark the notability of many film articles and set priorities for films without an article. One tip that may help (you and WP Films): we had lots of film lists nominated for deletion lately. One argument that was often repeated is that we shouldn't duplicate categories with lists. The way to protect a list from this argument, is to give additional information after each entry. In this case it could be the year each one started and the name of the highest award handed. Let me know if you agree. Hoverfish Talk 16:33, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Hoverfish. Thnaks. I just want to inform you that another article List of film festivals exists as well. I agree w/ you about the risj of deletion. I'll try to add the years if that could help. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up ® 16:43, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I know about the general list of festivals. Not very useful or informative though. It's more like a confusing navigation with many links sending to the same articles, which are themselves navigations. There is also the List of film awards, which covers all this and I have already heard a suggestion it should be split. But if it is split without good premeditation, it will be a chaotic mess. I will be glad to have some useful order in all this, and your move is a very god step. Surely mentioning the start year will help, and also the award they offer (but if it's always "Grand Jury", I guess we can skip this). Another useful step is to add in each of the international festival articles a "See also" link to the list. It won't be long before I suggest a cleanup in all this. Right now however I am extra busy with other film lists, created by Sir Blofeld in a hurry and left almost empty for quite a while, and they are in danger of getting deleted. So one thing at a time. Hoverfish Talk 17:20, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if you have seen the Central Asian and Southern Caucasus Film Festivals Confederation. There are two additional links there as well. They are not "international" in the global sense, but they have several country-members. I guess the same is true for European Film Awards and the Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou, which I added to the list, but now I think this was a mistake. Should we maybe make a list of "Regional film festivals", or does "International" refer to such multi-national cases too? Hoverfish Talk 22:36, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think it is better to have them all at List of international film festivals for now as they are not too many. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up ® 09:56, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First, you reverted – without the courtesy of an explanation – a merge and redirect that had been proposed and discussed, with no objections. As an encyclopædia we shouldn't be party to a squabble between msuicians; we should present the facts as best we can, within policies such as WP:CITE, etc. Having two articles on the same album, with virtually no content in the one that wasn't in the other, just because people have had a spat about what it should be called, is surely absurd; we should have one article that explains the reader what the issues are.

Secondly, please remember to mark your edits as minor when (and only when) they genuinely are minor edits (see Wikipedia:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one (and vice versa) is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting and minor rearranging of text should be flagged as a 'minor edit'. Thanks! --Mel Etitis (Talk) 17:15, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First, i am sorry to say that your tone is not appropriate and sound like a school lesson! Just after reverting i came to your talkpage to explain to you gently the facts that you are not really aware of. That's the etiquette we should be talking about! Aren't you in a good mood today?
Second, i haven't marked the revert as minor in purpose. It was a mistake.
Third, i am glad i am getting rid of this this contentious issue. It has made me sick. Good luck w/ the edit warriors when they are back. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up ® 17:50, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies — all I saw was your revert, marked as minor and with no explanation. Your message on my Talk page got lost, because it was followed by lots of others. If I'd seen it, my response would have been differently worded. Still, to be fair, my edit summary pointed to the Talk page, where the Move discussion and consensus could be found, and you could have seen that I was fully aware of the background.
Anyway, I hope that all's well that ends well. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 18:18, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
;) No worries Mel. I thought you believed the message below was part of my message. It could have happened to me as well. So no personal issues here of course. Actually i saw the section about re the consensus to move but i still suspect the edit warriors would be back anytime. :( -- FayssalF - Wiki me up ® 18:22, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
