Adele/21

Hi there. I see that you're one of the more active contributors to Adele's page. I was wondering, and this is contingent on you having sufficient time, if you could take a quick look at 21 and offer any help, suggestion or edits that could improve the article. Any help would be appreciated. While reading/skimming through it, keep the Featured article criteria in the back of your mind. Check that the prose isn't awkward and that it flows and sounds professional. If it doesn't, just select specific passages that need copy-editing. Also, if you don't mind, you could do some fact-checking. I've read a lot of literature on the singer and the album, and it is possible that I sometimes stretch the sources to say things that they do no actually say. So, if you meet a point that's controversial or very important, just follow the source to make sure that it actually says what I say it says. And if an important point lacks a source, demand a source for it. If that's too much, then just do what you can and I'll be happy. Thanks so much. Orane (talk)

I pretty much agree with everything you said :)... except the "Set Fire to the Rain" comment lol. It's contradictory because you can't set fire to rain. That's a paradox. The phrase "to burn" or to let something burn means that you're ending it/letting it be destroyed. And she is finding it impossible to end/let go of the relationship (which I guess in this case would be symbolized by water). I thought it made sense, but I dunno. But it was Adele who said it was about contradiction.

Regarding the singles section: I'll try to beef it up. But I'm not sure transplanting from "songs and lyrics" would be a good idea. I want to keep the singles section strictly about charts/promotion, while keeping the "songs and lyrics" about the music/recording process. I know the song/lyrics section is more detailed than all the other sections. That was a bit intentional. I've written featured articles before, and the huge problem I had with my last one passing was that it lacked treatment of the musical aspects of things: instruments, chord progression, writing and recording process etc. So I wrote as much as I could this time around. But your help has been great so far, so by all means, if you want to make any sort of changes within the article, don't worry about stepping on my toes. Go right ahead. Also, you said that the marketing section was a bit confusing. I kinda expanded it, so could you tell me if it makes sense to you now? The first part of the section was to imply that she was successful in the U.K with her first album, and had maintained that hype, so the marketing wasn't as focused and painstaking in the UK. Adele

I think it's a definite improvement from the first version I read, but I moved the sentence on the BRIT awards being a major push to the start of the section, because as much as the BRIT awards affected the UK buying public, it probably registered as a mere blip in the US. Especially since (if I'm not mistaken), the album release in the US was a couple of weeks after the BRITS. Having said this, I don't exactly gleam what you described (not having to work as hard in the UK etc) from the prose, but it still conveys information that flows. That's kind of confusing. What I mean is that it is clear and informative but does not necessarily convey what you intended it to convey, since I don't get a sense that the UK promotion was any less comprehensive. I have a question though, the part about building a fanbase in the United States, is that for 19 or 21? Cuz I'm kind of baffled that they'd have to rebuild an entire fanbase after just two years. I'll address the introduction a little later, since I'm gonna be away until maybe tomorrow afternoon. Regarding the marketing section, the point about the BRIT awards being a major push aren't my words. The point was quoted from an article I read that said that they stateside push (America) was in the wake of the BRITs. I don't know if they're a big deal in America, but many American artists won that night and also performed.

The fan base thing is a bit confusing to me too. I'm thinking it was more of rekindling the fanbase. To be honest, I think I have mistakenly incorporate some of the info about 19. But here's an excerpt from the Billboard source:

Adam Lambert Edits

hi fixer. listen on the adam lambert page. not only did you eliminate the entire tv section following his emergence from AI -- many of those appearances were important to his career, and showed a progression in the kind of things he was doing (like fashion) -- but you then gutted the tv from the trespassing section! this was not a redundancy but rather an attempt to keep everything from 2012 trespassing album era together. at least for now, at least until it got unwieldy. you also eliminated alot of data that i believe is significant at this juncture. all the info about the videos, for e.g.. now i totally get that the big tv section needed editing/needed to be pared down. was hoping someone would do that -- i might have, given the time. but can you tell me the rationale for eliminating it entirely? i also intended to use some of those links other places when the page got a major edit. or intended for them to be available to others for that purpose. the Queen + Adam Lambert: i have been waiting until the concerts finish to redo the chronology and correct the dates of the shows, as they're happening now and are not as originally scheduled. i will do that. but you did not fix the inaccuracies (the moscow concert was not the 30th, for e.g. the 30th was the euro 2012 elton john gig, which no one knew until a month ago). instead you just pared. i agree with you on the trimming what wasn't -- but think the whole section needs to be carefully redone; -- and there might be comments on the mini-tour overall that can't be made until it finishes. i didn't want to do piecemeal edits again. so thank you for the push and the help, but i think it might be a better "fix" if you were familiar with all the details leading up to and including this now 6 concert spree; or trust that it WILL be reconfigured and brought up to date by the time the tour ends -- which is july 14th now. do you have some specific objection to including tv appearances, either as a section for a particular time period (this was a catch up job requiring considerable effort, as the page hadn't been touched for a long time); or as it was done in the newer "Trespassing" demarcation? it seems to me that nearly all appearances by musical artists occur when they are in the process of promoting something. thx Fixer. I reverted for the second time deletions made by you because you were advised this was already ongoing, yet after only 24 hours you jumped in posting "i don't see any "ongoing" move..." and once again, after already being reverted the first time, deleted items that needed to remain on the Bio page and were not promotional and did not belong in Promotion on the FYE page. Fixer, your sweeping in with a major deletion and then simply dumping material elsewhere was inconsiderate to other users and you caused additional work for them. Being Bold per wiki guidelines is good when tempered with consideration for others and when you have carefully reviewed your edit. Although this may have been a good faith edit, multiple items were randomly deleted and moved without any intent to follow up, but leaving a mess behind for others to clean up (reference to cleanup tag left on FYE page by you after dumping everything) and you did not review the items you were deleting very carefully as it was obvious some had nothing to do with the FYE album page. Please do not make further deletions from this section. As noted in several History Summaries the paring down and reorganization of this section is ongoing and several other users are already working on it. If you have suggestions or feel items should be deleted please post in Adam's Talk so other users can discuss. Or if you wish to complain they are not editing fast enough for you, please post there rather than jump in to 'just help them along'. Your actions were not helpful.
