Rosalind Chao

[edit]

She was born in in 1957. If she played Arnold’s teacher from 1982 to 1983, then she can’t teach as a teenager. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Silly English Kniggits (talkcontribs) 22:37, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Editing with a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Fongpi. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 17:59, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rosalind Chao again

[edit]

Hi Fongpi - can you please explain your edits to Rosalind Chao? I noticed it's the only article you have ever edited - do you have a connection to the subject? I'm particularly concerned with your removal of Pomona College's mention of her having graduated in 1978 - it makes it hard to assume good faith, as it appears you're removing every fact in the article that supports a different birth year than your preferred one. I'm aware she appears to claim 1957 is the wrong year in the the OC Magazine article you cited, but frankly there is too much other evidence to believe that statement. --Fru1tbat (talk) 13:23, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your most recent edit to Rosalind Chao, altering the title of a source on her graduation year contrary to the source's actual content, is disruptive. You haven't engaged here or on the article's talk page. I feel this is an issue that needs to be brought to an administrator's attention. --Fru1tbat (talk) 14:33, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I am a family member and know that this was an error in this reporting. She was a child actor. She did not actually graduate from Pomona College but took classes there before college age. They have another student called Linda Chao there and the confusion has lasted years. Long story. I apologize but this has been a problem for her. And the misrepresentation has caused her to lose work. If you watch the most recent videos of her you will realize the error. Fongpi (talk) 05:52, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the response. I've read the article you've cited in the past, which I'm assuming contains the same assertion as the videos you're referencing, that her age has been misreported. Frankly, I don't believe them. There are several photos of her in early acting roles in the 1970s, and they all contradict a 1967 birthdate. Furthermore, the earliest one, of her in a Here's Lucy episode from 1970, would be two years before several sources have her either being discovered or first acting (and she's clearly older than 3 in that photo). I don't know why there's such confusion over her birthdate, but 1967 is clearly not accurate. --Fru1tbat (talk) 13:20, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed you removed sourced content again in favor of your edits, which hide any evidence of a 1957 birth date. You have a clear (admitted) conflict of interest, and this needs to be brought to an administrator's attention. --Fru1tbat (talk) 13:43, 11 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person, Rosalind Chao, but you didn’t support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 18:34, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
