Hello, Fromtheteys, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as User:Fromtheteys, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. A tag has been placed on User:Fromtheteys requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because...

I'm still editing the page and need to link in the citations!

I'm also struggling to work out how to change the title. Help would be welcomed.

I think the page fits with Wikpedias requirements:

a) it is a newly written, summarized description of an individual

b) the individual has interests and investments in several countries

c) there is currently very little openly published about the individual, who has remained private for many years

d) it's been written from a neutral view point

e) there are links to various documents, etc to illustrate the points

f) the individual is notable - the recipient of a political smear campaign for many years who transpires to be a successful business man now hoping to buy one of Slovenia's most successful football teams

Your user page is to tell us about your activities on Wikipedia, not to write about yourself or anyone else. It's not for hosting articles.

Even if you had posted the content as a draft, there are still some concerns.

You say that you have not been paid to write the article. If you work for him or his organisation, that still counts as paid editing and must be declared as such. Anyway, the fact that you have dedicated your user page to writing about this person suggests that you have a conflict of interest of some sort, please don't write about yourself, your friends, relatives or emplyer and read the guidance below:

  • When you write about a person, you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that they meet the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the person or an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, Wikipedia, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the person claims or interviewing them. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls.
  • You had no in text references of any kind. There was a list at the bottom headed References, and what looked like a list of urls, although none actually linked anywhere. Even if you Google the link, many supposed refs don't mention him, eg this page
  • He might be notable as defined above, but we need to be able to verify everything you claim
  • You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
  • You claim that your text is neutral. Academia was Zdenko’s first passion... an avid sportsman and accomplished windsurfer, his dream job... his successful business portfolio and so on, your opinions, not real facts
You make unsourced accusations of wrongdoing, eg These actions were deemed to be part of an orchestrated smear campaign... you must not do that
  • You have no wikilinks in the text
  • There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
  • You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.

Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article. If you are writing about yourself, or someone you know as a friend, colleague, client, employer or relative, you have a conflict of interest, and you must disclose the nature of that COI.

Many thanks for this helpful feedback. I understand the content issues. I'm not so clear on the technical stuff - but hopefully by reading the various articles I'll be able to work it out. Fromtheteys (talk) 12:19, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
