Hello, Genberg47

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

FYI...[edit]

Your post at Talk:Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting is missing its time stamp. I see that you are a somewhat new editor - I can add the time stamp to your post if you wish on that article talk, but if you'd rather do it yourself that's fine. I just thought you'd want to know. Time stamps keep talk pages with their replies & posts & threads in order and help archiving bots work correctly. Shearonink (talk) 05:17, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks appreciate the reminder I’ll go add it. Genberg47 (talk) 12:19, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Steven Anderson (Disambigation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. March 2024[edit]

A page you created has been nominated for deletion as an attack page, according to section G10 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

Do not create pages that attack, threaten, or disparage their subject or any other entity. Attack pages and files are not tolerated by Wikipedia, and users who create or add such material may be blocked from editing. Counterfeit Purses (talk) 14:53, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What page Genberg47 (talk) 14:56, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Justin Mohn Synorem (talk) 14:58, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's no different then redirecting the the name of a mass shooter to the name of the shooting and perpetrator (Example: Patrick Crusius redirects to 2019 El Paso shooting#Perpetrator. This is not attacking Crusius, it is stating a fact that he was the perpetrator of the attack. Genberg47 (talk) 21:48, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The difference is that Mohn had not been tried and convicted. Please read WP:BLPCRIME.
In general, I think we should focus on the event, not the perpetrator, so I would never create a redirect for a mass shooter. if someone types the name into the search box, they will find the article anyway. Counterfeit Purses (talk) 22:54, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Mohn will obviously be convicted, and yeah it’s better to focus on event but you said yourself it will come up in search results regardless so that just inconveniences the reader and deliberately not redirecting is pointless. Genberg47 (talk) 23:00, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If Mohn gets convicted, we can add his name to the appropriate article. I don't see why we would create a redirect or a stand-alone article unless there is a lot of media attention. Counterfeit Purses (talk) 00:02, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. Chanaka L (talk) 02:35, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How is that adding my own view, listing Islamic terrorism as a motive is simply unnecessary when Islamic extremism is already there. Genberg47 (talk) 02:39, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Perpetrators NTJ was designated terrorists organization. Their target was Christians and Western tourists. NTJ leader was known to state intelligence services for his hateful extreme teachings years before the attack. Discuss contentious changes in talk page before editing. Chanaka L (talk) 03:02, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok but I still think it would be better to have one or the other, i'll keep the page as it is but open a section on the talk page for discussion. Genberg47 (talk) 03:36, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't do that[edit]

Please don't turn disambiguation pages into redirects like you did here. Thanks. Counterfeit Purses (talk) 18:42, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ok but doesn’t it make sense if there’s only two results and one is significantly more well known than the other? Genberg47 (talk) 18:47, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No. Counterfeit Purses (talk) 19:01, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Aight sure. Genberg47 (talk) 03:25, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

April 2024[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Jungle style. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. –Novem Linguae (talk) 07:08, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to merge them first but it wouldn’t let me as the Jungle style page already existed (as a redirect) and so I guess you can’t move pages to something that already exists, so I just used copy and paste. Thanks for pointing this out. Genberg47 (talk) 16:29, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please avoid copy paste in the future for the reasons described above (mainly that it erases the history tab). You can post at WP:RMTR to ask for help. Thank you. –Novem Linguae (talk) 20:37, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
