Figuring out Wikipedia, part 1[edit]

hi Gershidze. About this edit note, please know that nobody has personal authority in Wikipedia, because a) we strictly protect the anonymity of editors (unless they want to reveal their real life identify and validate it - see WP:REALNAME, and b) on the Internet, nobody knows you're a dog. The only thing that matters is the quality of your edits, and they in turn are measured by the quality of sources you cite and how well you summarize accepted knowledge, neutrally. It takes some time to figure this place out. I'll be happy to help you, if you like. That said I also have to tell you about something about all the articles related to e-cigs in Wikipedia, which I will do in the next section. Jytdog (talk) 08:04, 4 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Figuring out Wikipedia part 2[edit]

This message contains important information about an administrative situation on Wikipedia. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.

Please carefully read this information:

The Arbitration Committee has authorised discretionary sanctions to be used for pages regarding Electronic cigarette topic area, a topic which you have edited. The Committee's decision is here.

Discretionary sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimize disruption to controversial topics. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to the topic that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behavior, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. This message is to notify you sanctions are authorised for the topic you are editing. Before continuing to edit this topic, please familiarise yourself with the discretionary sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

Figuring out Wikipedia part 3[edit]

OK so above I just gave you notice of the "discretionary sanctions" that are in place in Wikipedia about e-cigs, everywhere there are discussed here. E-cigs has turned out to be a very controversial topic in Wikipedia, and a whole knot of problems ended up in front of our "supreme court" which is called the Arbitration Committee. As a result, it is really important to go slow editing in this topic. If you edit aggressively, making big changes or breaking the policies and guidelines that govern content and behavior here in Wikipedia, you can get blocked, topic-banned, or indefinitely banned pretty quickly. So please, go slow.

I am going to revert the big changes you just made, as they were too much all at once. Please go slow, and learn to walk before you try to run. That means - please consider making small edits, see how they go, and go from there. Step by step.... We have no deadline here, there is no hurry. Good luck!
