AfC notification: Draft:Donald Lewis Sparks has a new comment
[edit]I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission:
Since this is your only contribution, and since it is written in exactly the format of a press release, it is reasonable to ask whether you are a connected contributor, in which case you must declare the connection. Please see our rules on Conflict of Interest If you are writing this for pay or as a staff member of the organization, see also WP:PAID for the necessary disclosures. Please reply here, and on the draft, and I shall review it. Thanks! DGG ( talk ) 05:34, 2 September 2020 (UTC)Thanks very much. As I am new to Wikipedia, I'm still trying to figure out navigating around and communicating. I am a connected contributor (?) or paid contributor (?) (unsure of terminology and the mechanics of how to disclose) , as I am employed by the same organization as my subject Donald Lewis Sparks. I would like to continue improving the article as well as other due diligence! Thanks for taking a look at the early draft. Gigiandd (talk) 19:14, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
- If any part of your job duties involves editing wp, or if the firm asked you to do it, you're paid, otherwise just connected. Just say which. The definition can be a little fuzzy, like most things here.
As for the article, An encyclopedia article is not a full CV, but neither is it just a directory entry. Make sure the article contains the full sequence of degrees and positions, with dates; a complete list of books published, if any, with year, date, publisher, ISBN (referenced to WorldCat), and links to published reviews of them; and, (in thesciences) the 5 most cited peer-reviewed articles, given in full with coauthors, full name of journals, and links, with the number of citations to each of them; include any national level awards--(not junior awards or awards from their own university) Add major outside positions, such as president of major national organizations, and any positions of editor-in-chief ; Membership or minor offices in most societies, and service on editorial boards, do not count for much & are better omitted. Internal college service doesn't count for an encyclopedia Very sparse articles attract skepticism. as do those using vague claims and superlatives, or those that list all possible internal and external committes. For all of these, give a source, but figure out how to listthem without copying or close paraphrase.
The orginal reviewer didn't seem to understand about the rules for professors, WP:PROF, but I will explain it to them . after the article gets fixed up and accepted.
Fellow AAAS is a very important honor, and should be highlighted by putting it in the lead. Pres. Soil Sci Society, ditto. Mentoring students is routine, unless any of them are notable enough to have WP articles here.
So add/remove the necesssary material, and let me know on my talk page. DGG ( talk ) 06:26, 16 September 2020 (UTC)
