Thank you for adding a note to an ongoing fixture. However, the event in question occurred on day three of the match whereas the scorecard was only updated to the end of day one. This can be misleading and/or confusing to readers. If you wish to add match notes in future, please wait until the scorecard has been updated at the end of a day's play such that the match note refers to an event which occurred on or before that day. Note that updates do not always happen each day of a match.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Ben Cliff, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Halifax. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 07:53, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

September 2024

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Please stop copy-pasting from draft space. Thanks. Izno (talk) 17:55, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Country Championship tables

[edit]

Re. Your edit to the 2024 County Championship Division two Standings table. I have now amended this so that Gloucestershire's number of losses is in agreement with the official ECB table, and removed the additional 8 points deducted. For future reference, please see the relevant section on the Talk page, which explains why.

(Edwin of Northumbria (talk) 20:53, 29 September 2024 (UTC))[reply]

There is a little bit confusion in Tie and draw. Goodknowme (talk) 21:31, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the ECB table doesn't distinguish between ties and draws, so it is necessary to combine the information from several sources to use the Sports table/CricketCC template. A study of the season's match results also helps. Gloucestershire were a particularly complex case because they were involved in a tie and two matches that were abandoned for different reasons. I suspect that it may be some time before that happens to the same team in one season again!!

(Edwin of Northumbria (talk) 02:33, 30 September 2024 (UTC))[reply]

I said that I am confused that time in Abandoned, ties and draws. Not in ECB or Cricinfo or BBC. Thank you for correcting me. Thank you Goodknowme (talk) 03:03, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I'd forgotten that there's an error in the ECB table. Just to make things even more confusing, this should show 7 draws (including the game abandoned without a ball being bowled). I remember now having to go through the individual match results a few weeks ago to work out what was going on.

(Edwin of Northumbria (talk) 03:29, 30 September 2024 (UTC))[reply]

I've added some comments to the section on the Talk page I referred you to above, which I hope will make matters clearer. Thanks for drawing (if you will excuse the pun) this matter to my attention, as it will hopefully avoid other people getting confused if they look at the table in future.
