Username[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Grand Central Publishing, and I noticed that your username, "GrandCentralPub", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Trammel Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Mark at WidgetsUSA", "Jack Smith at the XY Foundation", and "WidgetFan87". Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a username change that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:32, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Grand Central Publishing[edit]

The page Grand Central Publishing was created as a redirect to Hachette Book Group USA because it is a division of that company that does not have sufficient notability on its own to merit its own article. Your creation of the page as a full article, with no sources (and no independent reliable source to be found, as far as I can tell) is inappropriate. If no redirect had existed before your edit, I would have nominated your article for deletion for lacking notability. As it is, reverting it to the existing redirect seems the best course of action. Unless you can provide sources to assert the notability of this division of HGB, please do not recreate the article. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:13, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:GrandCentralPub, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Stefan2 (talk) 23:47, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

June 2014[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. — MusikAnimal talk 02:47, 25 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I am Andrea James at Grand Central Publishing. I am not here to advocate for or promote the company; however, I am here just to update the information for authors and the Grand Central Publishing page. Thank you! GrandCentralPub (talk) 20:10, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

OK, that's good. But what else would you be editing, then? Consider the query below:

Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. Daniel Case (talk) 17:20, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Daniel Case: I apologize if what I have been doing is related to and considered promoting. What would be edited are the authors' pages and book articles to provide correct information, sources linking to its correct publishers as well as the authors' websites with correct information. I understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia which is why I would like to provide the company history as well as authors from its respective division. I am not trying in any way to promote the company, just trying provide the history in a neutral and non-biased manner so other users may learn about the company history. I understand conflict of interest which is why I will make all articles and edits in a neutral manner without promoting anything or anyone. I also understand that the encyclopedia article must be notable, as I will have and have reliable sources to support the information in a neutral manner. I apologize for the inconvenience and hope that the username can be changed to something that identifies me personally as WikiDan61 (talk · contribs) had stated on my talk page. Thank you.
As the founder of Wikipedia has stated, "those with WP:COI should never edit the articles they are related to, but may only propose changes on the article talkpage to try and obtain wP:CONSENSUS for them." You're stating that you wish to continue editing the pages, even though you've been advised that you cannot be unblocked if that's your goal ... the panda ₯’ 00:03, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 23:35, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Stefan2: Sorry about that! I just put in a username change request after the account was blocked. The picture was used to the Grand Central Publishing page I previously created; however, has been removed due to my username not showing neutrality. I put in a username change yesterday and plan on putting that image on the new page I will create since it is the logo of the division the Grand Central publishing. I hope that is okay! Thank you!
