Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at David Lidington ‎. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 14:46, 12 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

how hypocritical! I was undoing vandalism for reasons explained and it is YOU who is undoing MY edits because you don't liek them! Stop bullying! GregPantry (talk) 14:47, 12 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Please read WP:Vandalism to understand the meaning of it here before incorrectly accusing people of it. My undoing was because of consensus not because of WP:I don't like it. I am not bullying so I can't stop. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 14:52, 12 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:GregPantry requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from User:Emir of Wikipedia. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Questions

[edit]

A few questions to help determine whether I block you indefinitely or not:

  1. Why is your user page a direct copy of User:Emir of Wikipedia's?
  2. Why are you re-adding things that he's removed on his talk page?
  3. How did you happen to find a page that has been attacked by sock puppets re-adding the same stuff that you have?

Looking forward to a reply before you edit any other pages. --Floquenbeam (talk) 15:23, 12 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your polite message.
  1. I apologise for this, and have attempted to remove it now.
  2. In accordance with Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines. I was following this, and made a valid point as you can find there.
  3. I understand this is a page previously attacked by sockpuppets and that is suspicious, but irrelevant. According to Wikipedia:Dealing with sock puppets though, sockpuppetry, convicted or suspected, does not warrant their edits invalid. I have looked sources provided, and I have discussed and provided many valid sources in the article and on the article's talk page. Also, I did not know the page had been attacked by sockpuppets, let alone for similar edits to my own, before I started editing.

Please do not block me, as I am trying to make meaningful edits to Wikipedia. I promise to ensure my edits are valid and sourced, and will only make edits if I am certain they are not Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and thus it is all encyclopeadic content in accordance with Wikipedia's policies. I am a new user, so if you have any comments to help me achieve this, by all means leave them on my talk page (here) or my userpage. Thank you. GregPantry (talk) 15:30, 12 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I want to protect Wikipedia, and so although I have not officially been blocked yet at the time of posting this, I will voluntarily not make any further edits to articles on Wikipedia English or Other other than to my talk and user pages until I receive confirmation from you or another admin here that I can safely do so. Following that, I will ensure that all of my edits on Wikipedia are valid and safe, and utilise talk pages to do so.
