Please read the comments at Talk:Cradle of Filth and the extensive discussions at Talk:Cradle of Filth/Archive 1 before changing the genre of Cradle of Filth or their albums. --Stormie (talk) 01:16, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect formatting

[edit]

Genres are not proper nouns and are not capitalized. see WP:ALBUMS#Genres Only the first letter in each genre name is captilaized. EG "Power metal" and not "Power Metal" Capitalizing all the words creates a re-direct link and not a proper link to the genre you are trying to add. You must go back and correct all your edits to change the genre text from uppercase to lowercase. If you do not correct your own edits a Wikipedia administrator will be contacted and your edits will all be undone completely and all of your hard work will have been for nothing. It's your choice. An editor will check later to see if you are correcting your own mistakes. If you haven't then your contributions will be erased. 156.34.208.112 (talk) 03:18, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Also try and use commas instead of coded breaks as this is the consensus view for the correct formatting for the genre field. AND... if you really want to help. Wikipedia has rejected the use of band logos in the name field of the artist infobox. So if you see an article with a logo you may switch it to the proper version using plain text instead of image logos. An Administrator will be checking your edits shortly. Thanks for your assistance. 156.34.208.112 (talk) 03:46, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
One more thing. As per WP:MOSFLAG.... No Flag Icons are to be used in band infoboxes. If you see any go ahead and delete them. 156.34.208.112 (talk) 03:50, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Be careful formatting. Put a space after the comma. And please remember to remove all flags and all logos. 156.34.208.112 (talk) 04:02, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Citation and genre blanking, adding of questionable genres

[edit]

In many articles you have blanked metalcore for bands that fall under that category and also provide a reference, source and description as to why. (i.e. The Black Dahlia Murder). You also added incorrect music genres to other bands (Draconian (band) aren't "black metal", and Dark Tranquillity aren't "blackened death metal".) You provided no justification in your edit summaries as to why you removed/added the genres. Please use article talk pages to discuss any disagreement as bold edits such as blanking can be a form of WP:Vandalism. Thanks,--Danteferno (talk) 06:06, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Genre Changes

[edit]

Please stop changing genres on bands without discussing them first (or even giving a reason as to why). If you continue to do so without discussing or at least entering an edit summary, your edits will be considered vandalism and you will be warned as such. I have spent the past 4 hours reverting your edits (Many of them were incorrect and clearly WP:POV - Your edit to the Cradle of Filth talk page [1], is a clear example of POV. Just because you think it should be symphonic black metal doesn't mean everyone else does). I do not want to revert any more of your changes. Please use discussion and gain a WP:CONSENSUS before changing. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. ScarianCall me Pat 16:33, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, you will be blocked from editing. Funeral 19:30, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did to Dimmu Borgir, you will be blocked from editing. ScarianCall me Pat 21:13, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As an additional note, please don't change the genres just because you think they should be like that. Changing something like a genre requires the community's input. Not just your own. Changing it to what you think it should be is called point of view. Wikipedia does not allow contributor's to attach their point's of view to Wikipedia articles. Please be aware of this. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. ScarianCall me Pat 22:15, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please STOP changing genres

[edit]

This is your final warning. You cannot continue to change genres just because you think they sound like the genre you're adding. It's called point of view. You cannot continue to put in your point of view. If you wish to change a genre please discuss it on the article's talk page and/or add a reliable source to prove what you are saying is correct. This is your final warning. Please do not change genres without discussing it first. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. December 2008

[edit]

Please remember to mark your edits as minor if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits (see Help:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
