Positron emission tomography[edit]

I didn't understand why you removed content and citations, so I undid your edit.
Per wp:verifiability, any significant content must wp:cite a wp:reliable source. See help:referencing for beginners.Jim1138 (talk) 21:37, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jim1138:Hi Jim, sorry, I'm new to editing so my explanation seems to have vanished. That page is such a mess that I couldn't leave it, so figuring things out as I go. The content I removed is incorrect, it is in fact referring to the 'crude form of CT' referred to in the later part of the same section. It is certainly not the standard method for attenuation correction in modern PET as is implied by the existing article. I also removed the supporting reference as it has nothing to do with either CT attenuation correction, or Ge-68 transmission sources. It is instead related to the challenges of simulating attenuation maps from MR imaging in hybrid PET/MR. Ge-68 transmission is mentioned in the second reference that I removed, but again, this was related to attempts to create templates for MR based attenuation correction, and actually refers to this method of attenuation correction as 'nowadays practically obsolete.'
How would you suggest I reference this edit, given that the references being removed do not actually support the content that was removed? Henno MedPhys (talk) 22:53, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If you remove content and citation, remove one citation and the content that it (supposedly) supports at a time. Leave an wp:edit summary with an explanation as to why so others can understand it.
If the explanation is detailed / very long, leave a note on the article's talk page. For this article, talk:Positron emission tomography. Before removing, go to the article's talk page, start a new section (click the "New section" tab) and leave your longer explanation. Then remove it with a brief ES and "see talk". See help:talk pages - for more info: wp:talk page guidelines.
Please format/indent your talk - see WP:THREAD. I reformatted your talk. You inadvertently chopped off the "UTC)" from my previous message. Please be careful!
Thanks for asking. You can also ask at the wp:help desk and wp:teahouse if you want a faster reply. I'm not always about. Cheers Jim1138 (talk)
BTW: there are a number of recent change patrolers that look for bad edits and will revert immediately (as I did). As there are so many edits being made, it is very difficult track and revisit to see if the editor subsequently added refs or gave a more detailed explanation. We usually only see one edit at a time, so please use an ES with every edit when hacking away!
If you want to be reminded to leave and ES, you can setup an annoying feature. At the top click on Preferences/Editor and select Warn me when I leave an edit page with unsaved changes. I have it enabled as I would usually forget. Jim1138 (talk) 00:05, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

Just follow the steps 1, 2 and 3 as shown and fill in the details

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. Remember that when adding content about health, please only use high-quality reliable sources as references. We typically use review articles, major textbooks and position statements of national or international organizations (There are several kinds of sources that discuss health: here is how the community classifies them and uses them). WP:MEDHOW walks you through editing step by step. A list of resources to help edit health content can be found here. The edit box has a built-in citation tool to easily format references based on the PMID or ISBN.

  1. While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which says "cite" click on it
  2. Then click on "templates",
  3. Choose the most appropriate template and fill in the details beside a magnifying glass followed by clicking said button,

We also provide style advice about the structure and content of medicine-related encyclopedia articles. The welcome page is another good place to learn about editing the encyclopedia. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a note. Jim1138 (talk) 21:37, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
