Your submission at Articles for creation

[edit]

I noticed your submission in Articles for creation, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/High Noon Western Americana. Thanks! It will be reviewed by a volunteer soon.

Before it can be added to Wikipedia, your submission should have references. All articles on Wikipedia should have inline, numbered references after facts, showing the 'reliable source' (a newspaper, book, etc.) where the information can be checked, so that all information is verifiable.

Here's a video tutorial - hit play, then right-click for "full screen".

Here's an example of how to add references:

Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref>

He likes tea.<ref> Smith, John. "[http://foonews.com/Article42 Interview with Chzz]", Foo News, 1 April 2010. Retrieved 2011-05-22. </ref>

== References ==

{{reflist}}

That makes the references automatically display as small numbers[1] which will link to the details in the section titled == References == at the end. You can see that example in action here.

Please add references to your submission, which will be reviewed as soon as possible. See also, Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners. If you need any help, just put {{helpme}} at the end of this page, followed by a question or get into our live help chat chanel at #wikipedia-en-help connect.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual.  You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. If you prefer to be unblocked for the purpose of changing your username rather than creating a new account, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice instead. Thank you. 5 albert square (talk) 00:24, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dear 5 Albert Square, Forgive my ignorance as this is my very first attempt at creating a Wikipedia page and it is treacherous in here! Yes, my company is High Noon and we have a website, but there seem to be millions of other companies on Wikipedia, so what did I do wrong and how can I correct it? Was I not supposed to use links to my website? If not, I can find others but I need to be unlocked while I learn. I probably need Wikipedia for Dummies answer please. Thank you for any help you can provide. Linda

Request reason:

I have changed my user name, per your request, to: Cowfolks. Can you PLEASE unblock me and allow me to use the text I spent 30 hours creating for HighNoon HighNoon (talk) 03:38, 23 September 2012 (UTC)

Decline reason:

I'm afraid the article you created isn't appropriate for Wikipedia. In general, it is never a good idea to create an article about your own business, because it's so difficult to write in a truly neutral way about a subject in which you have a conflict of interest. Since you state you aren't interested in volunteering to help edit Wikipedia in any other way, you aren't likely to need an account at Wikipedia. It doesn't look like "High Noon Western Americana" is a company that meets Wikipedia's notability criteria, so the encyclopedia probably doesn't need an article about this subject, but don't worry- if I'm mistaken, and this is a notable company by Wikipedia's definition, it is inevitable that someone outside the company will write about it. If you ever become interested in becoming a volunteer at Wikipedia, writing and editing in ways that make a better encyclopedia, please feel free to request your new user name again. Although Wikipedia is not a place for advertising, and it isn't a business directory, we are always happy to have volunteer editors with a wide range of interests and skills. You haven't changed your username; you are unable to do so yourself. Before we get to that, however, Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. Hersfold (t/a/c) 04:52, 23 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/High Noon Western Americana, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. j⚛e deckertalk 18:28, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
