Welcome!
[edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent contributions, such as your edit to the page Meditation, have removed content without a good reason to do so. Content on Wikipedia should not be removed just because you disagree with it or because you think it's wrong, unless the claim is not verifiable. Instead, you should consider expanding the article with noteworthy and verifiable information of your own, citing reliable sources when you do so. If you'd like to experiment with the wiki's syntax, please do so in the sandbox rather than in articles. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- No edit warring or abuse of multiple accounts.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Do not use talk pages as discussion or forum pages as Wikipedia is not a forum.
The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! [edit]Hey There! I'm glad that you want to add information to the Meditation article. Please be sure that your edits conform to WP:MOS, and that any claims or assertions are backed up by verifiable sources. Thank you! HighPriestDuncan (talk) 18:21, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- I meant to add that a great way to make a bunch of small changes and then refine them is to create a draft or sandbox copy of the article in your userspace. That way you can make many piecemeal changes without needing to come up with edit messages, and then request feedback from other editors before merging your changes back into the main article. This is great, because your changes won't get reverted and you can focus on editing. HighPriestDuncan (talk) 18:24, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
Tell me one thing. Isn't Hinduism the oldest religion than the other religions mentioned in the meditation wikipedia? Moreover it is written in many religious books of Hinduism about meditation. Do i need extra source from God or alien? HolaBC444 (talk) 18:29, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not really interested in taking a stance on the content of your edits, just their nature. I've given your edits a more in-depth review, and have the following comments, in reverse order:
- Avoid the use of phrases such as "Moreover, we can't deny ...". This presupposes that the subsequent statement is a fact, and I would argue that it is a kind of weasel wording.
- In order to make the claim that Jewish meditation can be traced to Hindu practices, you would firstly need to word your claim as a statement of fact rather than a speculation, and then supply a reliable source for that statement. If it is indeed the case that there is a connection, I do not doubt that you would have any issue quickly identifying several reliable sources as, in my limited understanding, there is an exceptionally robust culture of Jewish academia and as such there should be a correspondingly large collection of thoroughly researched, written, and peer-reviewed literature on nearly any matter related to Judaism.
- The same applies to your statements in relation to Buddhist meditation. Your edit would would have benefited from more correct and formal wording, as well as a source.
- Your edit to include Sadhus when enumerating practitioners of meditation appears to have merit, but was caught in the revert. It would still benefit from better placement elsewhere in the article.
- Your edit relating to the difference in meditation technique between Buddhism and Hinduism is, again, completely speculative without a reliable and supporting source. The wording may also be difficult for many anglophones to understand.
- Edits making speculation about spiritual exports from Hinduism to other religions belong, at best, in a dedicated section of the article - and maybe more appropriately on Hinduism itself - with a thorough assemblage of scholarly research on the matter. An anthropology journal might have relevant material.
- If you believe that the article should include this material, there is nothing to stop you from adding it so long as you do so in a manner that complies with the established rules for editing, which have been linked multiple times here. There are many editors who would be thrilled to assist in reviewing and editing your changes if you staged them in userspace and floated the changes in peer review. I have taken a significant amount of time to address your concerns and cannot afford to spend more. I hope that my input has been helpful, please know that it is not intended to discourage you from editing, but to encourage you to make higher quality edits and to improve the breadth of information on Wikipedia. - And no, Hinduism is not older than Buddhism; see Hindu synthesis. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 19:42, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
Yes i state we can't deny term with judaism because it was a possibility of being spreaded by travellers as everything in past were spreaded by travellers only. If you disagree then you can cut that part . But you can't deny the fact that Gautama Buddha the founder of Buddhism himself was a Hindu prince. Which i did edit once. And Buddhism is much more influenced by Hinduism than you think. It is common sense here in indian subcontinent. Moreover journals are based on theories provided by these religious books. If you deny one fact of religious book and accept another fact just because you agree yourself is not right. If it was something about mythology then you can say that. But meditation is not myth. Historians are not scientists which created history like scientific invention. Historians are more like discoverers which is based on ancient books or artifacts they find or drawings on walls , stones, etc. You get my point right. HolaBC444 (talk) 19:50, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
If you don't think my words are not enough then why don't you consult an indian historian who is well versed with all religious books. I'm only talking about the contribution of Hinduism and Buddhism. Let other historians decide about other religion. I only want to talk about Indian subcontinent contribution to meditation. This way you'll know whether i'm correct or not. And moreover, actual facts will be on wikipedia page. HolaBC444 (talk) 20:01, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
