Speedy deletion nomination of Robin des Champs

[edit]

Hello HugoAlmeida,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Robin des Champs for deletion, because it's too short to identify the subject of the article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Xx236 (talk) 08:47, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Robin des Champs

[edit]

Hallo, and thanks for contributing your first article to Wikipedia.

Unfortunately there were two major problems with your initial Robin des Champs.

  1. You didn't say what he was. That's why someone else nominated it for deletion as lacking context. Not everyone is immersed in horseracing! The first sentence, the "lead", of a Wikipedia article is almost always of the form "X is/was a Y", telling us what the topic actually is. I've created a lead sentence for this article, so that's now fixed.
  2. You don't cite any references. As I'm sure you learned in The Wiki Adventure, everything in Wikipedia needs sources - reliable independent published sources to support the information given. Without a source this article is likely to be deleted. If you have a source, please state it - it doesn't have to be online, but if it's offline (a book or newspaper article perhaps), then you need to give full detail enough that someone else could find it in a library and check the information.

There's a lot to learn about editing Wikipedia, but it's an interesting journey. Happy Editing! PamD 08:50, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There was also another major problem: you seem to have got the horse's sex wrong, as the articles on its three offspring all seem to agree with GBFan's change, that Robin des Champs was the sire and not the dam. Please check your sources very carefully before adding anything to this encyclopedia. Thanks. PamD 08:56, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
