Welcome!

Hello, Idahowines, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Idaho wine commission, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may soon be deleted.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Idaho wine commission, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. TeapotgeorgeTalk 22:27, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

[edit]
Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block.

Requested username:

Request reason:

We are increasing awareness of the Idaho Wine Industry. We are a government, not for profit organization

Decline reason:

Wikipedia accounts must be for individuals only, who are personally responsible for them. Usernames that are those of a group or organization are not allowed. You wrote on the talk page "We are only promoting the Idaho Wine industry", but Wikipedia is not for promotion of any kind, whether commercial or not. Request reason:

I am an individual making this page. We have no intention of letting the world know of a "noble cause", I am just providing historic information about the Idaho Wine history and viticulture information.

Decline reason:

Declined for the reasons stated below, and the fact that this request doesn't propose an acceptable username. ~Amatulić (talk) 23:31, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

You don't get it.

  • You have not indicated that you understand the reasons you were blocked.
  • If you want to edit here, you must propose a username consistent with Wikipedia:Username policy. You have not done so. Your username represents an organization, and that is one reason you were blocked.
  • You don't seem to be familiar with WP:CORP, which outlines the criteria for inclusion of an article about an organization. Your organization doesn't seem to fit the criteria.
  • The fact that you are a not-for-profit is irrelevant.

If you make a better proposal that convinces another administrator that you are here to edit constructively and abide by Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, it will be considered. ~Amatulić (talk) 23:01, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I understand what you are suggesting. If we were to change the name of the page to History of the Idaho Wine Industry would that better fit the criteria?
Also, can I change my user name to my name if it is not to be a company?
To your first question: An article such as you propose isn't necessary. You can simply expand the existing article Idaho wine by adding a history section to it.
To your second question. Yes, but you need to propose a new username as indicated in the big orange box at the top of this section. You haven't yet suggested a name. Also, don't separate the unblock template fields with slashes as you have been doing. Use a vertical bar. Like this: {{unblock-spamun|Your new username|Your reason for unblocking}}
~Amatulić (talk) 23:32, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Also, to be frank, the continued use of the word we, both in the unblock request above and in subsequent comments, suggests a role account and does not help alleviate the inherent conflict of interest issues here. --Kinu t/c 23:33, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I don't think you get it yet. Your username is part of the problem, so the above request is a start, but if you're unblocked, you will not be able to edit or write anything about wine in Idaho on Wikipedia because you have a huge conflict of interest. Do you understand this and, knowing that, do you still want to edit unrelated subjects? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 03:16, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
