Copyright on Wikipedia[edit]

Hello, Ikmensah. Thank you for offering information on roots tourism. The draft article has had to be deleted, I'm afraid, as parts of it seemed to have been copied from other sources (specifically http://legacy.guardian.co.tt/archives/2006-09-07/greater-caribbean.html and https://www.researchgate.net/publication/249024007_An_Exploratory_Study_of_the_Tourism_Migration-Immigration_Nexus_Travel_Experiences_of_Chinese_Residents_in_New_Zealand). However, information in new language has been added to Genealogy tourism.

As a website hosted in the United States, Wikipedia is subject to U.S. copyright law; as one of our core movement values is creating and spreading free content, we are beyond that conservative in the use of copyrighted content even where law might allow (such as fair use). Except for brief and clearly marked quotations, all information you take from copyrighted sources should be put into your own words and structure. (Most sources are copyrighted, even if they are not marked so.) Wikipedia:Copy-paste has more information on our approach to copyright.

Thank you again for bringing us information. I hope you will choose to continue further. If you have questions about copyright or any other aspect of editing Wikipedia, I recommend a visit to the Wikipedia:Teahouse, which is meant to be a welcoming environment for newcomers. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:21, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
