Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!

Hello Infiné R,

It seems to me that an article you worked on, Aufgang, may be copied from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ateCSPLPnpw. It's entirely possible that I made a mistake, but I wanted to let you know because Wikipedia is strict about copying from other sites.

It's important that you edit the article and rewrite it in your own words, unless you're absolutely certain nothing in it is copied. If you're not sure how to fix the problem or have any questions, there are people at the help desk who are happy to assist you.

Thank you for helping build a free encyclopedia! CorenSearchBot (talk) 12:28, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Aufgang, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia for multiple reasons. Please see the page to see the reasons. If the page has since been deleted, you can ask me the reasons by leaving a message on my user talk page.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you.  Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 13:46, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This text appears in many places such as http://www.last.fm/music/Aufgang. Wikipedia cannot accept material copied from other sites unless a formal copyright release has been made - see WP:Copy-paste and for more detail WP:Copyrights#Contributors' rights and obligations. Assertion of authorship or of permission is not enough.

It is not often worth making a copyright release, because material written for other purposes is usually too promotional or otherwise unsuitable in tone for an encyclopedia article, which requires a neutral point of view. Wikipedia is not a noticeboard for pinning up promotional material from elsewhere.

Also, a single source will not be enough, because article subjects need to have notability, which is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." There is more detail at WP:Notability (people) and for musical performers WP:MUSICBIO, and good advice on how to write an acceptable article at WP:Your first article.

If you are connected with the subject of your article, please also read the guideline Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. JohnCD (talk) 14:44, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
