Welcome![edit]

Hello, Info Ufsc Ca, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited was Ukrainian Fraternal Society of Canada, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Am I on the right track?[edit]

Hi Brainy J,

I've introduced some citations and am acquiring more.

I believe the reference to ArchiveCanada indicates an aspect of notability. And I will provide more details on the library.

I work for and volunteer for UFSC and am soliciting editorial contributions from other people (in particular the librarian and past members). However, for the most part, only people with 'close connections' to UFSC will be contributing to the article.

Am I on the right track? I do not want to undo your edits; I would much prefer that you keep an eye on this article and remove them when you are satisfied.

Welcome, Info Ufsc Ca! From your question, it sounds like you're asking a certain, specific contributor for help. Hope that's correct. If it isn't, just use the {{help me}} template again. Joys! – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 21:35, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

User Name[edit]

I have requested a change of user name to Rchrd Stnko.

No, not a specific contributor for help[edit]

Hi,

{{help me}} I suppose I don't require help from any particular contributor. Just some one to see if I have overcome (or am on track to overcoming) the issues raised by Brainy J.

  • I'm going to try and offer an odd way to answer your question as kind of an experiment. What do you think the exact concerns were that you should be overcoming? What steps have you taken to make an effort to overcome them? Do you think those steps were adequate and you were successful? I await your answers. :) Technical 13 (talk) 01:36, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Just a few thoughts in addition to the comments above: the issues raised were merely a reminder that you may be editing with a conflict of interest. That isn't something which can be 'overcome', it is just something that you should continue to be aware of while you are looking at articles on subjects you have a connection with. It is recommended that you don't edit articles with which you have a conflict, and instead propose changes at the talkpage of the article in question per WP:PSCOI. If you have made an edit to an article in conflict, then that of itself is not necessarily problematic, and the edit would generally be looked at on its own merits - ie. is it a minor change, or is it a well sourced 'neutral-point-of-view' addition then it is unlikely to be challenged. I hope this makes sense and provides some clarification to your query, but feel free to ask again if any further specific points of clarification are required.--nonsense ferret 01:46, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Username block[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.  You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. exact concerns were that I should be overcoming[edit]

1. Close connection/Conflict of interest.[edit]

I'm in the process of changing my user name. I submitted the information early Tuesday and I understand that it will take a day or so. I am asking others to join me in providing material for the article so that it will be neutral and objective.

2. Notability[edit]

I am re-working the content to make it more relevant to researchers interested in a) the wealth of genealogical and demographic material; b) the history of immigration and settlement in Canada; c) the history of co-operative enterprises.

3. Citations[edit]

I've added a few. For the re-write I am citing my sources.

I see on the article on changing names, some numbers and dates in the right-hand side. Is my name change request in there some place?

It has been found at Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple#Info_Ufsc_Ca → Rchd Stnko. I will add a note that User:Jimfbleak has blocked this username (shown above). – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 14:07, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
