AfD article

When you create the AfD article, make sure you put the ===[[FrankandJames.com]]=== at the top. Otherwise your text merges into the AfD above it on the day's list. I fixed this one. Fan1967 19:21, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Ah! Thanks. I wondered why I couldn't get it to format correctly. I can't believe I overlooked that. Thank you very much for correcting it. IrishGuy 19:22, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
I was just trying to figure out why you were talking about FrankandJames.tk in the AfD for IvyWise. Then I realized they had run together. Fan1967 19:25, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I noticed that when I first listed it so I tried it again. Obviously, I just needed to title the article but it just plain slipped my mind. Thanks again. IrishGuy 19:28, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Saint Patrick/Great Britain

I have a thing with editing out the term 'Britain', except when referred to for etymological or terminological reasons. Call it a compulsion, a pain in the neck, or whatever, there's a very good reason for it, and I always make sure that every time I edit away that word, I am doing something constructive, no matter how minor. Whereas 'Great Britain' clearly refers to an island, the meaning of which is unambiguous, 'Britain' is shorthand for the island (Great Britain), the archipelago to which it belongs (British Isles), or the country to which it belongs (United Kingdom). Thus, 'Britain' is either sloppy, misleading, or both sloppy and misleading.Bastin8 23:51, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

Any time!

Any time, dear Irishguy... anything for a fellow éireann (even tho my Irish blood is somewhat diluted! ;) Cheers, Phædriel tell me - 22:01, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

Please do not list content disputes at WP:AIAV, as you just did regarding Bambi II — it is only for clear cases of habitual and obvious vandalism. Saravask 17:59, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

It isn't a content dispute. It isn't about differing opinions. It is vandalism. The content this person is putting in the article is completely made up. If you do a google search for the inane content he/she keeps adding you find exactly one hit: from this vandalism in this article. IrishGuy 18:03, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

If that is the case, then you need to properly warn the user by stepping through {{test1}}, {{test2}}, {{test3}}, and finally {{test4}} in that order. Only then may a block be handed out. I've just watchlisted the page and will monitor the anon's contributions for now. Saravask 18:06, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
He has just admitted that it is vandalism here. IrishGuy 18:07, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Well, he has just been blocked by someone else as a result. Saravask 18:09, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
As I was trying to research the data being included by the vandal (and coming up empty, except for Christopher Lee voicing a different character), I blocked the user for the diff listed below. :) RadioKirk talk to me 18:11, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Thank you very much. I apologize about the edit summaries. I am trying to be more cognizent of that, but I still forget. IrishGuy 18:11, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

To: IrishGuy Roses are red, violets are blue, but if you keep annoying me, you're gonna be poo! HAHAHAHA! 65.103.86.243

You do realize that leaving threats on talk pages is an incredibly bad idea, right? IrishGuy 19:17, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Okay, IrishGuy. I realize as long as we live in conflict, we'll never be true friends of Wikipedia. Therefore, I have created a peace treaty to erase all problems between us.

I, 65.103.86.243, hereby claim peace with the individual IrishGuy, by contributing my best to Wikipedia, not my worst. As friends, we shall come to cross many bridges of hate and disorder on this online encyclopedia, and live to say we are good people.

What in the name of you-name-it is going on here? Give it a couple of hours and I'm putting the ^*&^*^%$ thing up for speedy as G3 (patent vandalism)! Tonywalton  | Talk 20:19, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

This is still going on? Good Lord! The guy who wrote this article needs to either come up with some sources (which I doubt) or just let it go. IrishGuy 21:04, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Yup. I've been out to the pub, had a curry, got back home and he (or they, which I sincerely doubt) is still trying to justify this "tradition" that nobody else in the known universe has ever reported. Odd. Tonywalton  | Talk 21:10, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
While it is possible there are two people involved here, when they showed their IP addresses, they both come from the same town. Hell of a coincidence. The second account Ed2288 only trots out to defend the first guy and repeating the same arguments. IrishGuy 21:13, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Feh! IP addresses. I edited a discussion somewhere (I forget where, or I'd give a link) where I demonstrated that I could present three different IP addresses, from three different ISPs and two different couintries, within a couple of minutes, from the same computer (one via ADSL on BT, one via Virgin.net dialup and one via my work account through a proxy in Texas or somewhere). I just wonder why he/they are bothering! Tonywalton  | Talk 21:34, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
He just wants to make it look like there is a groundswell of people who want to keep this article. If this thing goes the whole five days that AfDs often do, I guarantee there will be at least two more new editors showing up talking about how much they love Tunday. Why can't people like this just build their own websites and leave Wikipedia alone? IrishGuy 21:38, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Can't see that happening (the whole 5 days). Some admin will close it as "consensus to delete" fairly soon, I think. I hope so – I'm bored with it! DVD and a drink time for me. Cheers mate. Tonywalton  | Talk 21:44, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
It was good getting to know you. Enjoy your DVD. And the drink, of course. Enjoy that too. IrishGuy 21:45, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Re:Irish-American

Please don't delete comments from the talk page. It is considered vandalism. IrishGuy 06:25, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

I didn't and if i did, it was either my own comments, or it was a mistake. --Boothy443 | trácht ar 06:29, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
Right here [1]. For what it is worth, I am not judging you opinions. This article is becoming quite heated. IrishGuy 06:31, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
Like i said, MISTAKE. Though i would have no problem with removing th KKK remarks, if you want to say somethinfg to some one, why dont you say it to the other user? --Boothy443 | trácht ar 06:34, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

I did give him a warning about personal attacks. Check his talk page. That is how it works. Deleting it doesn't help. Leave it. Warn him. If he does it again, then act upon it. Removing it doesn't assist at all. I am not trying to offend. Honestly, I am trying to help you. IrishGuy 06:37, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
Oh really, humm. Then would you care to explain this, does not look like help. --Boothy443 | trácht ar 06:38, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

What is your problem? I simply warned you about protocol? Why are you making this an issue? IrishGuy 06:39, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
That, actually, I was just going to explain. If you look at the edit history you will see that I actually wrote those lines. I accidentally edited the wrong thing. You can't possibly be upset with me for removing a line that I clarified?! IrishGuy 06:41, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

I'm trying to AfD the article, thought I did it (guess not, hey? first time.) and would appreciate it immensely if you'd show this newbie the ropes (especially what I did wrong and the correct order of deletion options?). Gotta get some sleep, but thanks in advance! ~Kylu (u|t) 07:00, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

No problem. Done. I myself had the same problem the first time I placed an AfD on an article. If you haven't seen it, this page outlines the basic parameters for AfDs...although from time to time a person still needs assitance. It was nice talking with you. Take care. IrishGuy 07:05, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.

Thanks! - CobaltBlueTony 20:54, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure I understand the message you left for me on my talk page. I haven't really edited this article. I merely reverted from vandalism. IrishGuy 20:56, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
When you add tags to users who vandalize, type {{subst:test}} or {{subst:blatantvandal}}, instead of {{test}} or {{blatantvandal}}, respectively. - CobaltBlueTony 21:02, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
Ah. I follow you now. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks. IrishGuy 21:03, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Please do not revert valid contributions! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.44.37.186 (talkcontribs)

It isn't valid if it isn't verifiable. Source it. IrishGuy 04:50, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

ADHD and the Amen classification system

You recently deleted my edits to the ADHD and Amen classification articles. At the time I had no Wiki login. While I understand that my edits seemed a bit broad I recommend that you do some research. The lines on the ADHD article, which I deleted and you then restored, stating that "In recent times the Amen classification has subclassified the DSM-IV classification and this led to improved diagnostic accuracy, which leads to better selection of medication and treatment. In nearly all developed nations (including the US and UK), doctors are required to conduct a SPECT scan in order to correctly treat the brain's chemical deficiencies. Without this scan, incorrect treatment can do damage to the brain." are NOT cited. I looked into this because I recently got diagnosed and medicated for ADHD and no one I talked to had mentioned this. Basic research shows that the use of the Amen system is not accepted by the general medical community. Furthermore, the wikipedia article on ADHD already refrences studies discrediting the methods used by the Amen system [i.e. SPECT imaging in relation to ADHD diagnosis and treatment] under the Testing For ADHD section. Please understand that my edits were meant to be positive and helpful. I'll be recommending that statements regarding the Amen system on the ADHD article be deleted.

I apologize in advance if I have not communicated through proper channels. I'm not used to editing much but this error seemed to exceptional to leave alone. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tyrers@carleton.edu (talkcontribs)

Before eliminating such a large amount of text and inserting your own, it is best to first bring this issue up on the talk page and try and get a consensus about the subject. Provide sources and illustrate why you believe the aformentioned text is unwise and unsourced. IrishGuy 05:31, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks!

Just wanted to say thanks for reverting the vandalism to my user page. Have a good one! --AbsolutDan (talk) 00:20, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Reminder

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.

[2] That's where you didn't subst. It's okay, I know that we aren't perfect, and I'm not trying to put down anyone. Just giving a friendly reminder to anyone I find who hasn't substed. If you have any further questions, see my talk page. — Ian Manka Talk to me‼ 10:53, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories: Rick James

Hi there. You voted for this article to be deleted, but the nomination was then withdrawn. I've now renominated the article, if you would care to vote again. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories: Rick James (2nd nomination). Cheers Vizjim 10:48, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Easy there. 128 unique Google hits for "Dick Blick" [3] including many porn sites. Few of those are quality hits, which is very low for a company that conducts its business online. - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 19:23, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

So you find an Alexa rank of 9,014 [4] to be an indicator of low quality traffic? IrishGuy 19:26, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

tokya metro

Hi, sorry, hadn't noticed my logout. There should be two subcats for the tokyo metro and toei Tokyo metro systems as opposed to keeping their individual 'line' articles in the Metros in Japan super cat and I want to recat these 'line' articles. Is there any problem with that?--Shuki 22:01, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

As long as you can get them all fixed up, go for it. IrishGuy 22:02, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Done for now. --Shuki 23:01, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Canonbury

Hello Irishguy: I posted a query on the talk page for "Canonbury" regarding a recent edit of mine that you corrected. Thanks. 80.176.158.37 21:09, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for helping stop the sceala.com disruption. --Craig Stuntz 16:01, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

No problem at all. IrishGuy 17:07, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

DYK

Updated DYK query Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article Danny Greene, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

If you revert my talk page again you will be blocked

thank you in advance. gooverup 16:21, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

If you remove the warnings on your talk page, which is considered vandalism, they will be reverted. Please don't threaten me. IrishGuy 16:22, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Gooverup

Just letting you know, Gooverup does have a right to remove comments on his talk page. While he is clearly trying to mislead people, he can do so. You are free to revert his blankings, of course, but note that you would also be subject to 3RR. Just to be clear, this is not an official 3RR warning. I'm not going to get any more involved in the matter of whether Gooverup can or cannot blank his talk page. I'm just letting you know that another admin contacted me when I was doing the same thing to Gooverup's page. Gooverup will likely be blocked for 3RR violations on other pages anyway. --Yamla 16:26, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

As a follow-up, I have requested this be discussed on Wikipedia:Village pump (policy) and you are welcome to join in the discussion there. It seems to be that the current consensus is that blanking current warnings is not okay. In any case, I blocked Gooverup for two separate 3RR violations in one day. --Yamla 17:03, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

User 69.10.123.4

Hi IG!: VJS here. Any chance you can tell me on my talk page what 69.10.123.4 vandalised? I'd appreciate it V. Joe 07:57, 30 May 2006 (UTC) Hi again: The reason I asked about 69.10.123.4 is that he vadalised a page,William Bainbridge , and I left a message on his user page. I noticed that you did the same thing. Thanks V. Joe 17:41, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Removal of Warnings

I refer to your removal of the warnings against User:Edchilvers. Discussion about his queries has been tried, to no avail. He has several times wiped large sections of longstanding article (i.e: there is no edit war as such) because he does not like it or the person its about. Thats what it boils down to. Attempts to answer his criticisms are futile. How do we halt his largescale deletions? He has also been busy on Michael Keith Smith. 86.129.77.169 20:45, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

The only warning removed was from Edchilvers user page, which isn't the place for warnings or discussions. Those are to be put on his talk page, not his main page. As for the content problems you two are having, that is something you should take up with administration and not simply harass each other with various warning templates. IrishGuy 20:49, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for assisting in this dispute. I would say that Mr Chilver's has some sort of a bee in his bonnet. I have given my assessment on the GLF Talk Page. Sussexman 13:02, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
