Proposed deletion of List of Art museums and galleries in Australia

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of Art museums and galleries in Australia, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Article consists only of external links - Possible COI towards first entry trough userpage

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. A tag has been placed on Australian Commercial Art Galleris, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. A tag has been placed on User:IronDuke99/List of Art museums and galleries in Australia, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of User:IronDuke99/List of Art museums and galleries in Australia and leave a note on [[Talk:User:IronDuke99/List of Art museums and galleries in Australia|the article's talk page]] explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. JNW (talk) 05:04, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. JNW (talk) 05:05, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. JNW (talk) 05:12, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles you created, as you did with Australian Commercial Art Galleris. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

  1. Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
  2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 05:16, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cerberus and Coles

[edit]

I just want to let you know that the reason for changing what you added to HMVS Cerberus. I don't want to minimise the historical importance of the ship. However, the changes you made read like someone standing on a soapbox and trying to rally support for the ship's preservation. The text also had problems with using 'peacock terms' (making claims towards imortance and significance instead of letting the facts speak for themselves).

I note that you have re-added some of these assertations. I'm leaving it alone, and am attempting to draft up an improved version of the article that articulates the importance of Cerberus while meeting the Wikipedia:Neutral point of view and Wikipedia:Verifiability policies.

On a related issue, I removed the paragraph you added to Cowper Phipps Coles, because the content had only a tenuous connection to the subject of the article (that Cerberus was a ship fitted with turrets based on his designs), and had similar problems to the text in Cerberus. -- saberwyn 03:45, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
