Orphaned non-free image File:TheRewatchables podcast.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:TheRewatchables podcast.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 02:27, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

[edit]

Greetings IsaacM24 and welcome (again!) to both Wikipedia and to COM482!

A few quick things:

I noticed that you're going to be trying to build a new article from Scratch. That's OK but, as I made clear, it's much harder than expanding an new article. The biggest difference is that you need to establish the notability of the subject (i.e., the podcast). That can be tricky. You should echout the link above and maybe also material on Wikipedia:WikiProject Podcasting which might have help. This advice seems important (from the WikiProject page):

Shows must meet WP:WEB criteria, which covers a broad range of content including webcomics, podcasts, blogs, Internet forums, online magazines and other media, web portals and web hosts. See WP:WEB for full details. Please note that primary sources alone are not sufficient to establish notability—reliable independent third parties must be cited.
A podcast show notability proposal was raised, but did not achieve consensus with the community. An archive is available here.

You're going to need to establish notability before your article will stick.

A second issue relates to the image. I saw that you tried to upload an image and that it has been nominated for deletion because of copyright issues. Images and image licensing is tricky. My advice would be hold off on uploading any image that is you did not take or make yourself. That image you uploaded likely will be deleted and that's OK. You can appeal to get it reinstated once you learn the ropes here a bit more. If you want to reach out to my Discord or come to my office hours, I'm happy to walk you the process of getting an image like onto Wikipedia. It's tricky but it's possible.

A third issue is related to WP:TONE. Just makes that your work is related from a neutral point of view and does not sound like an WP:ADVERT.

There's more but that's probably enough to keep you busy for now. You've certainly added a lot of content. I'm looking forward to seeing how things develop! —mako 19:05, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Using User talk pages

[edit]

I also noticed that you didn't do complete Task #2, Part 2 (i.e., practicing to communicate on Wikipedia). This is an important skill to master before you starting making live edits so I hope you do this! —mako 19:07, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, IsaacM24

Thank you for creating The Rewatchables.

User:Doomsdayer520, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

Thank you for this new article. Note that it is currently an "Orphan" meaning that no other Wikipedia articles link TO it. This makes the article tough to find for interested readers. See WP:DE-ORPHAN for pointers.

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Doomsdayer520}}. Please remember to sign your reply with ~~~~ .

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Rewatchables, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
