If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Institute for Strategic Leadership requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.isl.com.au/our-patron/, https://dpmc.govt.nz/honours/lists/ny2022-cnzm/#lorigange, and https://www.culturesummit.com/people/jerry-mateparae/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Orange Mike | Talk 22:13, 20 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

Hi, I am quite new to Wikipedia and I don't think read enough of the guidelines on username creation and I apologise for that, the new username NSPEAR is the username I use for most things and I will change the email address to my own (making this my Wikipedia accounts as opposed to the shared on I had set up)

As for paid compensation, I work as part of the IT team for the company that the page is being written about and I was asked to draft up a Wikipedia page for the company and compensation would be my salary in this case.

I do understand why I was blocked, the content that I posted was taken primarily from our History, Patron, and Founder pages on our website, however, I can see how it sounds like I was promoting the company, I did try to edit it to be a little more objective before submitting, however, it's clear I need to do some more work on it. Should I get unblocked, I will work with some external people for review before then putting it into Wikipedia.

For the intention of the page, it was not to promote the company in any sense, I was asked to create a Wikipedia page to talk about ISL, what it does, to provide some information around it's history, and mention the influential people in it's 21 years of history (Founder, Patron, and Alumni).

Thanks for reading (I'm assuming someone reads this)

Reach out if you have any questions, happy to answer.

Thanks

Decline reason:

What you describe is the definition of promotion, at least on Wikipedia. You don't have to be soliciting customers or selling something. Wikipedia is not a place for organizations to tell the world about themselves, what they do, and what they consider to be their own history. A Wikipedia article about an organization must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the organization, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable organization. Please read WP:PAID for information on making the Terms of Use required declaration. You won't be unblocked to, in the short term, edit about your organization or anything related to your conflict of interest. If that is your only goal here, this is the end of the road. If you want to be a general contributor and edit about other topics, please tell what those might be. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 00:06, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
