[edit]
Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 09:35, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Fascinating. Not a word in this request actually indicates any idea of why the account is blocked. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 14:27, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Thanks for your reply. I'll be more clear and sincere. First of all, I live in Istanbul and love its history. When I first came to Istanbul years ago, I explored the whole city and studied its history. I joined many local tours. My knowledge grew so much that I started guiding tours as a part-time job while studying at university. Now I share my knowledge through my website. When I look at Wikipedia, I see gaps in some topics. For example, even Hagia Sophia has many missing parts (I was shocked when I saw this). There are also gaps for Galata Tower, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar. I'm making necessary edits, but I think I'm blocked because my username and website have the same name. I don't think there's a problem with citing my website as a source because the information I add here comes from sources like Ottoman archives, old local newspapers, etc., which are not widely available online. I want to change my username and continue contributing to Wikipedia. Thank you.

Decline reason:

That your username is that of your website is only part of the reason for the block. As noted below, you will need to stop linking to your website and directly cite the sources you are using themselves- not use your website as a source; doing so is a severe conflict of interest. 331dot (talk) 17:28, 7 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia requires that sources be reliable. To be considered reliable, they must have an established reputation for fact-checking and editorial oversight. This heavily favours mainstream news organizations, academic press, and reputable publishers of newspapers, magazines and books.

Sources of dubious or unknown provenance will not be considered reliable. Self-published sources with no editorial review are not allowed; this disqualifies blogs, social media and internet message forums. Exceptions can be made for official social media accounts of existing reliable sources, as it is presumed that content posted there has undergone the same editorial review process as the main outlet.

Sources do not have to be online to be used on Wikipedia. Printed sources (like newspapers, books and magazines) can be cited if certain details can be provided (including but not limited to the work's title, author, publisher, date of publication and relevant page numbers).

Therefore if you truly wish to help Wikipedia without the appearance of being self-serving, then you should provide citations directly to the sources you say exist, instead of using your own website as an intermediary. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 01:12, 7 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
