getting Cain and Annabelle "live[edit]

Hello Phantom Steve,

I've read and understand that you have to have the account for 4 days and have 10 edits before the page can go live. Is this true? If so, am I ready to go live with it after my 4 days? Thanks Steve Ivy.on.oak (talk) 17:15, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I just noticed that you moved it!![edit]

Thanks so much! That was fast. So is it live now then? Can I tell my friends to go look at it? Thanks Phantom Steve! Ivy.on.oak (talk) 17:24, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Cain and Annabelle is "live". I've also added it to a couple of relevant categories. You may see that there is a notice about notability. For an article to warrant inclusion on Wikipedia, it needs to meet the notability guidelines. The two newspaper articles are good, but they are "local" newspapers - and this is an international encyclopedia. They show that the group are notable in Tennessee, but not necessarily more widely.
I can see two problems:
  1. the article does not make any particular claims to notability - why are Cain and Annabelle notable?
  2. it does not appear to meet notability for music - the following is from Wikipedia:Notability (music)#Criteria for musicians and ensembles:
  1. Has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent from the musician or ensemble itself and reliable. Self-promotion and product placement are not the routes to having an encyclopaedia article. The published works must be someone else writing about the musician, ensemble, composer, or lyricist. (See Wikipedia:Self published sources for details about the reliability of self-published sources, and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for treatment of promotional, vanity material.) The barometer of notability is whether people independent of the subject itself have actually considered the musician, ensemble, composer, or lyricist notable enough that they have written and published non-trivial works that focus upon it. The rationale for this is easy to see – someone simply talking about themselves in their own personal blog, website, book publisher, etc. does not automatically mean they have sufficient attention in the world at large to be called notable. If that was so then everyone could have an article. Wikipedia is not a directory.
    • This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, online versions of print media, and television documentaries - What constitutes a "published work" is deliberately broad - except for the following:
      • Any reprints of press releases, other publications where the musician or ensemble talks about themselves, and all advertising that mentions the musician or ensemble, including manufacturers' advertising. For example, endorsement deal publicity (including sell sheets, promo posters, fliers, print advertising and links to an official company website) that lists the artist as an endorser or contains an "endorsement interview" with the artist.
      • Works comprising merely trivial coverage, such as articles that simply report performance dates, release information or track listings, or the publications of contact and booking details in directories.
      • Articles in a school or university newspaper (or similar) would generally be considered trivial but should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  2. Has had a single or album on any country's national music chart.
  3. Has had a record certified gold or higher in at least one country.
  4. Has received non-trivial coverage in a reliable source of an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one sovereign country.
  5. Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e., an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable).
  6. Is an ensemble which contains two or more independently notable musicians, or is a musician who has been a member of two or more independently notable ensembles.
  7. Has become the most prominent representative of a notable style or of the local scene of a city; note that the subject must still meet all ordinary Wikipedia standards, including verifiability.
  8. Has won or been nominated for a major music award, such as a Grammy, Juno, Mercury, Choice or Grammis award.
  9. Has won or placed in a major music competition.
  10. Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g. a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show or notable film, inclusion on a notable compilation album, etc. (But if this is the only claim, it is probably more appropriate to have a mention in the main article and redirect to that article.)
  11. Has been placed in rotation nationally by any major radio network.
  12. Has been the subject of a half hour or longer broadcast across a national radio or TV network.

I have spent some time looking for evidence that it meets any of these criteria, but I have not been able to find any. Could you tell me (here) if Cain and Annabelle meet any of them? If not, then according to the criteria, they may not be notable enough for inclusion in Wikipedia at this moment in time.

Please let me know if they do meet any of these criteria (and if so, where I can find verify this at independent, reliable sources) - if they don't, then I'm afraid that the article may need to be considered for deletion, unfortunately.

Let me know here if you have any information which will show their notability, or if you have any other questions. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 18:50, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

notability[edit]

I see. Well, the only one they may meet is being atop the local music scene. Aside from that, its just articles in local newspapers where they've played. Big cities included, but probably still unnotable i guess. If the article goes for deletion, will I still be able to save the work I'm doing on it and if these criterion are met one day, make it live then? Thanks Phantom Steve

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Artemus James requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. GILO   A&E 04:20, 29 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Speedy at Artemus James[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia, thank you for taking the time to create a page here. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you created yourself. Because Wikipedia policy does not allow the creator of the page to remove deletion tags, an automated program has replaced the deletion tag you removed from Artemus James. Please do not continue to remove the deletion tag, instead, if you disagree with the deletion, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the page by clicking this link. Once there, select the button that says Click here to contest this speedy deletion.
  2. This will take you to the talk page, where you can make your case by explaining why the page does not meet Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do. For further help about the deletion, you could contact the user who first placed the tag or a highly active user who is willingly to help with deletion. This message was left by a bot, so please do not contact the bot about the deletion. Thank you, - SDPatrolBot (talk) 05:13, 29 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Late reply to your query![edit]

Sorry for the delay - between work and family, it's been very busy!

I see that the Speedy deletion of Artemus James was rightly declined, so I do not need to help you here! A good job, really!

Seriously, although I am busy (I work 3 days, 3 nights and then 3 off, each shift is 12 hours + the travelling involved) I do try to get on here as often as possible, so please do contact me if there is anything I can help you with.

File permission problem with File:Cain and annabelle 2009.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Cain and annabelle 2009.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 22:08, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for July 13[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Artemus James, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Pavement (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 11:54, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
