Speedy deletion of ConXPoint

[edit]

A tag has been placed on ConXPoint, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ukexpat (talk) 18:14, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not recreate deleted pages. Doing so is disruptive, and can eventually lead to blocks. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 18:48, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on ConXPoint, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Bagheera (talk) 18:48, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you re-create ConXPoint in substantively the same form one more time, you will be blocked. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 22:43, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you believe that your article meets the guideline at WP:CORP, please list it at WP:DRV for an undeletion discussion. Corvus cornixtalk 22:45, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

[edit]
You have been temporarily blocked from editing in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for abuse of editing privileges. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.

Thirty-one hours. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 22:46, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

{{unblock|I revised the page using the list of good postings as a template. the information I posted is factual, verifiable, and does not market or try to sell a product. another table in the wikipedia lists ConXPoint. Someone viewing that table may want to know what ConXPoint is. This is also my first post and have no intention of breaking rules. I dont feel my URL should be blocked for days.}}

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Sarcasticidealist has layed out below how to properly create articles on corporations. Please read the guideline WP:CORP, and IF you recreate the article, do so only if it directly cites references which are unconnected to the company, such as from reliable sources like newspapers, magazines, trade journals, books, etc. If you recreate the article WITHOUT doing so, it will be seen as further disregard for Wikipedia policies, and the block will be reinstated.

Request handled by: Jayron32.talk.contribs 03:44, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As I've indicated via e-mail, I'll unblock you if you agree to change tactics - either by taking this to WP:DRV or by recreating the article in such a way that it clearly claims to comply with WP:CORP. Is it a deal? Sarcasticidealist (talk) 23:01, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I'm taking off. I'm fine with any admin granting the unblock if Jarrowood has agreed the terms I set out above. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 23:59, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back

[edit]

Hi Jarrowood - I'm the admin who blocked you all those months ago (back when I went by Sarcasticidealist), but I'm pleased to see you back now planning to contribute within Wikipedia policies and guidelines. I've taken a quick look at User:Jarrowood/mvsw, and it looks like you're off to a good start. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance. Best, Steve Smith (talk) 20:57, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much! I decided to just stop trying to write an article about ConXPoint after you let me back in. It was a learning experience for me. Even before that happened, I've had arguments debates with people about the integrity of Wikipedia and the content. I've always been somewhat of a social constructionist whether it be related to language or knowledge. After that experience, I have no doubt of the integrity of information disseminated by Wikipedia.

I'm glad you checked in. I planned on revising the Mountain Valley article a bit more, then send it to someone for feedback before I tried posting. I'm an editor for DMOZ and I'd like to contribute more to Wikipedia, but I have a lot to learn about the Wiki interface. Jarrowood (talk) 03:03, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback Request

[edit]

How do I go about requesting feedback on an article from an editor? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jarrowood (talkcontribs)

If you have a specific editor in mind, you can leave a note on their talk page (which will be located at "User talk:NAME OF EDITOR" - so mine is at User talk:Steve Smith). You can also list it for peer review, though if you list it there it could take a couple of weeks before somebody gets around to it. Steve Smith (talk) 00:15, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Mv-spring-water.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Skier Dude (talk) 07:59, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
