Although some prefer welcoming new users with cookies, I find fruit to be a healthier alternative.

Hello, Jasmin-Shams, and welcome to Wikipedia! I am Sam Sailor and I would like to thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Some pages of helpful information to get you started:
  Introduction to Wikipedia
  The five pillars of Wikipedia
  Editing tutorial
  How to edit a page
  Simplified Manual of Style
  The basics of Wikicode
  How to develop an article
  How to create an article
  Help pages
  What Wikipedia is not
Some common sense Do's and Don'ts:
  Do be bold
  Do assume good faith
  Do be civil
  Do keep cool!
Do maintain a neutral point of view
  Don't spam
  Don't infringe copyright
Don't edit where you have a conflict of interest
  Don't vandalize
  Don't get blocked

Remember to always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to this (your talk) page, and a timestamp.

The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun! To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:

  Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
  Help contribute to articles
  Perform maintenance tasks
Become a member of a project that interests you
  Help design new templates

If you need further help, you can:

  Ask a question

or even:

Ask an experienced editor to "adopt" you

Alternatively, place {{helpme}} on your talk page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Again, welcome,  and happy editing!

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 17:16, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Vrac (talk) 15:42, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Jasmin-Shams, you may not strike through the comments of other editors at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Samira Samii. It is very disruptive and creates work for other editors to restore the page. Please do not do this again. Only a duplicate note by the same user may be struck. Voceditenore (talk) 16:02, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Jasmin-Shams. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Samira Samii, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Sam Sing! 16:42, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You are suspected of sock puppetry, which means that someone suspects you of using multiple Wikipedia accounts for prohibited purposes. Please make yourself familiar with the notes for the suspect, then respond to the evidence at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Jasmin-Shams. Thank you.
