[edit]You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.
Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page.
You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text
{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.
Thank you. Cabayi (talk) 19:02, 21 April 2021 (UTC)Hello, I'm Serial Number 54129. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. ——Serial 19:31, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
Please stop
[edit]Please stop editing the article Jefferson County Public Schools (Colorado) until you have changed your username. Your current name is not acceptable because it represents a position within your organization. Accounts must be named to denote a single individual who does not share this account under any circumstances. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 20:14, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
Edit warring
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Jefferson County Public Schools (Colorado). Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.
If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose their editing privileges on that page. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to result in loss of your editing privileges. Thank you. Changing username
[edit]Please proceed with changing your username by submitting a request at Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple. Please do not edit any articles until this name change has been completed.
While you are waiting for this name change, please take the time to thoroughly review Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines and paid editing disclosure policy, if you haven't already done so. It seems like you made an attempt to make a disclosure on your userpage, but there are errors. I can help you fix that.
Once your name change has been approved, please refrain from editing the Jefferson County Public Schools (Colorado) article directly. We advise you instead to use the {{request edit}} template on the article's talk page (Talk:Jefferson County Public Schools (Colorado)). This will alert uninvolved editors to your edit request, and allow them to review and respond to your proposed changes.
Please also understand that while primary sources such as your organization's website can be used for basic facts and figures, Wikipedia's articles are mostly formed from what has been published in reliable, third-party sources. Though we strive for accuracy in articles, we also have little interest in what an organization wants to say about itself. The subject of an article has no right of ownership or control over its content, and disagreements should be discussed on the article talk page to arrive at consensus. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 06:38, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
- Drm310, the request is on meta at m:Special:GlobalRenameQueue/request/76193. Cabayi (talk) 06:51, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks Cabayi.
- JeffcoCommServices, please disregard my earlier statement about going to Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple. However, the remainder of my advice still stands. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 13:48, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
Content Edits and Name Change update
[edit]Yes, please help me correct errors on my Disclosure - @Dragonfly6-7 in IRC helped me compose that. What do I need to fix? I also (re)submitted name change request per Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple <again>. I am not editing page until this is all straitened out. Also - I waw correcting informational data and names on our wiki page. The data on that page is over 6yrs old and lists our old Superintendent. Nothing "promotional" there. Just pure facts backed up by Colorado Department of Education data and our website and media websites about our new superintendent. Once name change is final - I'll do the "request edits" process you mention above. Thanks, LG JeffcoCommServices (talk) 15:11, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
- The rename of your account was successful. I have also fixed your paid editing disclosure on your userpage, and also added a {{connected contributor (paid)}} disclosure at the article talk page, Talk:Jefferson County Public Schools (Colorado). You may now add your edit request(s) on that same page. Thank you again for your cooperation and patience. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 19:20, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, JeffcoCommServices. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Aspening (talk) 17:25, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
==========
I have added a COI disclosure to my username page at [[1]]. IRC helper @Dragonfly6-7 helped me write this and said it was ok. LGJeffcoComm (talk) 21:41, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
