Hello Jgallant88. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Todd Mason, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Jgallant88. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Jgallant88|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Ravensfire (talk) 01:30, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there,
I do not get paid for my edits. I follow a lot of people in the industry. Jgallant88 (talk) 15:42, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed maintenance templates from Todd Mason. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Please see Help:Maintenance template removal for further information on when maintenance templates should or should not be removed. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. The article in question is still promotional and the tag should remain. There are lots of promotional wording such as "here the longest-running Christian program in America is produced". Please see WP:Peacock. Jns4eva (talk) 19:02, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi Jgallant88! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Okay understood, Thank you Jgallant88 (talk) 15:34, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Todd Mason, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. I've created a talk page discussion at Talk:Todd_Mason#Advertising_tag. I'm also going to post a request on the NPOV noticeboard to ask for other editors to review. You've continued to add junk sources and promotional material in your edits. I've been pretty clear in my edit summaries on why material has been removed. While you've denied a connection to Mason, continually pushing a promotional version and removing the Advertisement maintenance tag strongly hints at a conflict of interest at best. Notice of neutral point of view noticeboard discussion

[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Neutral point of view/Noticeboard regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Todd Mason. The discussion is about the topic Todd Mason. Thank you. Ravensfire (talk) 16:50, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Rather than going back and forth over the tag, I've requested outside eyes to take a look and offer their thoughts. Ravensfire (talk) 16:51, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use, as you did at Todd Mason. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.
