Welcome, but be careful[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Here are suggested readings: WP:SECONDARY and WP:COI. The gist of these guidelines are:

  • Wikipedia prefers citations to reviews and books, not primary journal references (tens of thousands appear annually). Citing secondary sources is the encyclopedic style.
  • Do not cite yourself or your colleagues. It's called conflict of interest. Many new editors cite themselves mainly. That behavior is unacceptable not to mention in bad taste. In your case, it appears that you might be citing your book. You should announce on your user page that you have a conflict of interest. Hopefully you know enough and care enough that you will do more than promote your own book.

If you have questions, many editors can offer advice. Happy editing.--Smokefoot (talk) 15:17, 7 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident with which you may be involved. Thank you. ChemNerd (talk) 14:19, 14 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributions to date seem to be all about adding references to papers by XXXX While we love experts here (see WP:EXPERT) we do not love experts who use their editing privileges to promote their own work, which is a violation of the policy against abusing WP for promotion. This is also considered a form of spam -- see WP:REFSPAM. Please also see WP:SELFCITE.

We do love experts, and it would wonderful if you would consider contributing more broadly. But please, enough of the refspamming. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 01:33, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
