Unblock request
Joseph2302/Archives/2022 (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I understand that some of my interactions with some users has been unnecessarily inappropriate and at times aggressive, and I sincerely apologise. I have no issues with any groups of editors on here, and apologise for actions that say to the contrary, particularly against Americans and users of US English. Having taken some time to reflect on the reasons for my block, it is abundantly clear to me that I have overstepped the mark of acceptable conduct, by getting myself too "hotheaded", and in the situations where I have become too emotionally involved, I should have removed myself from the situation rather than being aggressive about things. I have used the WikiBreak Enforcer a number of times in these situations, but should have used it more frequently in the last few weeks to avoid unnecessary confrontational situations, and if unblocked, that would be an important way that I would strive to maintain civility with other users on the encyclopedia. In looking through my past contributions, I have also noticed that a lot of the negative conversations have come through topics related to current events at WP:ITNC (nominations for blurbs and recent deaths), and therefore I have come to the conclusion that if I recuse myself from this area, then this would remove the issue with problematic editing/conduct. Instead, as I did after my return in 2020, I will aim to focus on uncontroversial article content (creating and improving articles, particular on women and sports- my first contributions would be updating articles of Commonwealth Games competitors, and seeing if any participants there are notable enough for articles), rather than involving myself with In the News, which can at times be a contentious area of editing. Having checked my editing history outside of articles listed at ITN, I don't believe there is evidence of poor collaboration elsewhere, and so if I remove myself from ITNC, then I believe I could clearly demonstrate myself as a positive editor to the community. In terms of article content creation, I have been a positive editor with over 400 articles, over 200 DYKs and 10 GAs, and this shows that I can be a net positive to the encyclopedia when I choose to focus on content creation. I understand that this is not the first time that I've been blocked, but if unblocked I will strive to do better, particularly by reducing my editing in areas where conflict are more likely to occur. Would an admin be able to consider the following proposal: # Partial block/topic ban from all areas of WP:ITN (including WP:ITNC and associated talkpage WT:ITN). I imagine this could be enforced by partial blocks from those areas? # Reduced (i.e. non-indefinite) block for clear violation of WP:Civility and WP:NPA. I also totally understand if this unblock request is denied, but as long as it is fairly reviewed, then I will accept the continued block for my actions. Joseph2302 (talk) 11:36 am, 5 August 2022, last Friday (7 days ago) (UTC−4)
Accept reason:
WP:LASTCHANCE.Per discussion with blocking admin. Partial block/topic ban from all areas of WP:ITN (including WP:ITNC and associated talkpage WT:ITN). -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 21:03, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
