Use of diacritics
[edit]Hi Jozue1,
Welcome to Wikipedia. I hope you like wokring on Wikipedia and look forward to more contributions from you.
However I would request you to exercise caution while adding diacritics to proper names in Wikipedia. It is not a standard practice in English. And diacritics should only be used if they are used frequently. Please see what Wikipedia:Manual of Style has to say about this:
The use of diacritics (accent marks) on foreign words is neither encouraged nor discouraged; their usage depends on whether they appear in verifiable reliable sources and on the constraints imposed by specialized Wikipedia guidelines.
As far as I know accent marks are not commonly used in Konkani(roman script). At least not according to the standardised version propogated by TSKK. Please feel free to contact me regarding this (or any other issue) :-). --Deepak D'Souza 04:57, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
Goa Velha
[edit]Hi, w.r.t. your recent edits to Goa Velha, I have some clarifications. Is Velha Goa really different from Goa Velha? As far as i know, Vhela means "Old" in Portuguese and not "Greater". I have encoutered the term Old Goa a lot but never come acorss Greater Goa or Larger goa or anything like that. Pleas elet me know if you have any relaible sources.--Deepak D'Souza 05:08, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
- Deu boro dis dium/ Hello/ Nomoskar,
- Yes, Goa Velha and Velha Goa are different places. Vhoddlem Gõi ie. Goa Velha (pronounced Gôa Velia [in Romi Konknnim script]) is slightly north of Pilar. You may have heard about Pilar, where Venerable Padre Agnelo Gustavo de Souza's remains are kept. 20th November was his feast day.
- Velha Goa (Pornnem Gõi, Adlem Gõy, Goem or Old Goa) is the place where S. Francisco Xavier's relics are kept. His feast is on the 3rd December. Bom Jezu basillica, Sé catedral are located here. There is a post office in the catedral complex. It is written on it Velha Goa.
- Velha is old in portuguese. Grande in portuguese, is large and could be greater. Probably not everything is literally translated, into other languages, from Konkannim.
- There is a book written by A B de Meneses Bragança, named Etnografia da India.

[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! This article appears to be a copy from http://www.goacom.com/culture/religion/fragnelo/pilm1.htm, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Se Catedral, Goenchi Katedral, Velha Goa.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Se Catedral, Goenchi Katedral, Velha Goa.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 17:55, 28 November 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 17:55, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
