Do not hide spam as minor edits

[edit]

Information icon Hi Kanthisback! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia — it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. —J. M. Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you.—J. M. (talk) 17:34, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, 1. Since I am new To Wikipedia I did not know that adding an additional entry to the long list is not minor edit. 2. The link that I provided is the official link of the OTT App. All my businesses are under the domain Arunkanth.in - I use a single domain for my businesses, if you have noticed. Pl try to open the link and you will know that’s my official site if my app. If wiki still does not accept that link, then atleast let that entry be there without the link.

Thank you.

Do not link to your website on Wikipedia at all. Do not edit anyting related to your business on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a platform for advertising or promotion.—J. M. (talk) 02:35, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have just removed all my link where ever it was created according to the guidelines. Kanthisback (talk) 02:44, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No, that's not what you did. And do not edit any article related to your business on Wikipedia. You obviously did not come here to improve the encyclopedia.—J. M. (talk) 02:58, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. I don’t know that. I thought I click the deactivate button sand published. I am just learning the tools here as I am new. I am just now aware that I should not add my business. Anyway sorry for the misunderstanding. Kanthisback (talk) 03:04, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to ALTBalaji, you may be blocked from editing. Dan Koehl (talk) 02:25, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings.—J. Information icon Hello, Kanthisback. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.—J. M. (talk) 02:33, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I removed my links As per guide lines voulantarily.. , not added. . Pl check and then complain. Kanthisback (talk) 02:40, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No, you did not remove anything. You added them again. Please at least stop lying. Everything you do on Wikipedia is stored in the database and can be freely examined by anyone. Thank you.—J. M. (talk) 02:45, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hello... I clicked on the link deactivate and saved the publish and added notes also saying the link was removed... if you notice now the text does not have the link. I am not lying. Pl check and come back. There is no link to that text. Kanthisback (talk) 02:47, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Please read my previous message again. I won't repeat it. One last thing: stop doing it. If you don't, you will be blocked from editing.—J. M. (talk) 02:52, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Since I am new here I am just learning the DOs and Donts. I am only trying to search all the posts that were linked yesterday And I am just clicking on link deactivate. Today I did not add anything I am only trying to unlink and deactivate the links one by one. But now I cannot find any of my posts at all. All that u r telling me was about yesterday (India time). Today I am just removing the link as suggested. Now my listing itself is missing ... anyway... it’s confusing since I am new here. There won’t be any links added from now. Just let me know one query. Am I allowed to add a new item to the list without links. Or am I not allowed to contribute to the table. ? Pl let me know, if this is acceptable. Kanthisback (talk) 03:01, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
