DYK for Sister exchange[edit]
On 11 September 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Sister exchange, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. Thank you, Ле Лой, for contributing this well researched article to the EN wiki. Your work on Māori phonology is also impressive. I see you have parallel versions of both of these in Russian. As you have written over 600 new articles on the RU wiki, perhaps you will now be able to devote a little more time to writing in English. - Honestly, articles about people are my least favourite ones to write. I have eternal respect to the Women in Red project members such as yourself, but I'm much better at writing about stuff like Katu people and Qiyan (check the RU versions which I intend to translate at some point). By the way, would it be rude to just replace the whole article with translated text in the case of Katu people? Le Loy 10:21, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
- Your Russian article on the Katus is really good. I see you provide interesting details of how women weave traditional cotton fabrics and how they are also the ones who grow rice and tobacco and participate in the rice harvest. The easiest way forward would indeed be to replace the existing English version with a translation of your Russian but I would suggest you try to maintain some of the existing contributions to the article, unless they are wrong or misleading. While you cover their music, I don't think you include details of their dance while the existing English article refers to the "tung tung" and "ya ya" dances. In this connection, you could contact WilliamThweatt who is the major contributor to the English article and still appears to be active. But maybe first you should create an English version as a draft so that others can appreciate the detail.--Ipigott (talk) 12:39, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
- Oh, yes, of course; I was thinking more of "not having to maintain the current citation style" etc, not just "I want to delete everything". Thank you so much for your help! This kind of support is tremendously helpful for a person who isn't familiar with the local culture -- even if they have experience working in other language editions. - I don't think there is any need to adopt the current citation style. As articles expand and increase in quality, the harv approach is frequently adopted.
