License tagging for Image:Dirrty.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Dirrty.gif. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 00:06, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
CANDYMAN.jpg
[edit]You found this image off the web? Then you did not take it, and you cannot upload it as public domain. Someone owns the rights to the image. What website did you take it from? Qb | your 2 cents 17:27, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- Please see WP:ICT/PD. Qb | your 2 cents 17:34, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- You dont seem to get it. Photobucket is a hosting website. They host images for other people. You need the person who took the picture's permission to post it here. Not the website's. And on top of that, you listed the image as public domain. Pleas see the above link re: what public domain is. This image is not public domain. Qb | your 2 cents 17:48, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:CANDYMAN.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:37, 21 July 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Qb | your 2 cents 17:37, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Your recent edits
[edit]Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 17:57, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Question regarding Image:CANDYMAN.jpg
[edit]Hi. :) Welcome to Wikipedia. I'm here because of a question raised at at the copyright problems page about this image. It's a lovely picture, but we need to make sure it's usable. Where on photobucket did you find it? Do you have the link? You can respond here on your talk page; I am watchlisting it and will see your reply here. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:21, 21 July 2008 (UTC) Well, my brother uploaded it and he was one of the photographers for the show so he had automatic permission to use it and he gave me permission. But I also got permission from the website just in case. (KickoMan69 (talk) 18:25, 21 July 2008 (UTC))
- If your brother uploaded it, then you should have the link, right? That would be helpful. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:30, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
yeah it's right here http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p148/Ponchito_album/CANDYMAN.jpg.
- Thanks. Unfortunately, though, that doesn't help after all, because there's nothing at that link that would help us verify that your brother has authority to release that picture. :/ It seems to be copyrighted to Anthony Harvey, according to this. In order to use the picture on Wikipedia or on Wikimedia Commons, we need a release from the copyright holder to be mailed to the Communications Committee of the Wikimedia Foundation from an e-mail address associated with original publication. Presuming your brother is Anthony Harvey and is employed by RCA, what he needs to do is send us a consent letter. This is the form of the consent required. It can be sent to permissions-commons AT wikimedia DOT org. But it must come from an address associated with the copyright holder; if we can't verify that your brother is the copyright holder of that photograph, then I'm afraid we can't use it. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:44, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Alright thanks. I'll have to ask my brother why he didn't tell me this before. Thanks!(KickoMan69 (talk) 18:47, 21 July 2008 (UTC))
- No problem. :) For now, I'm going to go ahead and remove it (I can do this, as I'm an administrator), and if your brother wants to verify permission it can be restored when he's done so. (The Communications Committee are also administrators.) As beautiful as that picture is, we have to be very careful with copyright concerns, just to be sure that we don't wind up inadvertently breaking the law. Thanks for helping clear this up. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:56, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Your welcome, and thank you for pointing out that mistake.(KickoMan69 (talk) 19:13, 21 July 2008 (UTC))
- No problem. Happy wikiing. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:13, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Dirrty.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Dirrty.gif. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MBisanz talk 01:59, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
