Abuse filter

[edit]

Hey King of Hearts! Thanks for your awesome work with the abuse filter so far; we've started up a thread at WP:AFT5's talkpage to discuss the proposed filters and any limitations we may be experiencing. Care to chip in? :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 10:13, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Close AfD Craig Graham

[edit]

Hi KoH, I agree with your close of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Craig Graham. Does it help clarify where to userfy to if I say the article creator is now user:Sydneysider1979? Widefox (talk) 13:48, 3 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Stone Trek AfD

[edit]

I'd like to question your closing of this AfD as a redirect - this should have been closed as a "no consensus", since the keep votes outnumbered the deletes. Let SummerPhD try this again at a later date, if he still feels it's notable. I think the sources that were uncovered were good enough, and I looked into that documentary - although it doesn't appear to have made much news yet, it does appear to come from a reputable producer who's released projects that do appear to be notable... MikeWazowski (talk) 03:23, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

AfD is not a vote. There is not one source that has substantial coverage, and we can't speculate on any future notability it may develop. -- King of 23:58, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Didn't complete overturn

[edit]

Um, at Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2012 May 9, you overturned the deletion of Shemspeed, except that article is still full-protected and displaying just the DRV deletion template. Could you fix this? SilverserenC 05:37, 16 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

/old suffix in AfD, e.g. Talk:Statesman/old

[edit]

Hi. I just found Talk:Statesman/old (via Category:Articles to be merged after an Articles for deletion discussion). It appears as if the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Statesman was actually supposed to refer to Statesman. (Talk:Statesman/old isn't in article space and Statesman/old doesn't seem to have ever existed). Is it possible that the automated system became confused when nominating a non-article page with a suffix? Or am I simply confused? Thanks. -- Trevj (talk) 12:52, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No, it's correct. Talk:Statesman/old contains the former text of the Statesman article before the AfD. It was decided later that the article should be converted to a disambiguation page. The AfD most definitely refers to the old version of the article at Talk:Statesman/old, not the disambiguation page. -- King of 00:10, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK, that explains things. But Talk:Statesman/old is now in a maintenance category which indicates its content needs merging. This seems unusual. -- Trevj (talk) 05:49, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't really matter that much, but I removed the {{afd-mergeto}} tag. -- King of 10:23, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explanation and for tidying it. I think I've understood things a little better now, and have also read Talk:Statesman#Talk:Statesman/old. -- Trevj (talk) 10:42, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

XfD script idea

[edit]

I though I should ask you, shouldn't User:King of Hearts/closexfd.js include Wikipedia:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts/CloseAFD.js? It currently has no support for closing AfDs, which doesn't make any since to me. You might also wish to add User:Lifebaka/closedrv.js (allows you to close deletion review discussions) and User:Phantomsteve/xfdrelist.js (allows you to relist XfD discussions). Thanks for your great scripts! --Nathan2055talk 19:45, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The thing is, Mr.Z-man has a far superior AfD-closing script: User:Mr.Z-man/closeAFD.js. However, it is not as easily ported as Wikipedia:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts/CloseAFD.js. Lifebaka's DRV script seems like a good thing to add. -- King of 23:21, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
After glancing at Mr.Z-Man's fork, I agree with you. Both scripts seem like great additions to this already great "script suite". Thanks, Nathan2055talk 23:57, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Help Me

[edit]

Hi. I am new user on Wikipedia. I want to be a contributor for Wikipedia. I wish to have a Twinkle and Bot. How can I do that. I have got no Idea. Please help me. Jayabharat 19:31, 25 May 2012 (UTC) --Jayabharat 19:31, 25 May 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jayabharat (talkcontribs)

To install Twinkle, just go to Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets, check the Twinkle box, and press "Save" at the bottom of the page. To get a bot, you'll probably need more experience here before people can trust you with one. You also don't just go around saying you want to have a bot, you have to have an idea for what what you want the bot to do, and then write a script for it and submit it for approval at WP:BRFA. -- King of 22:20, 25 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
