Daniel Brailovsky

[edit]

was born in Israel. And I expect you to give a source that he wasn't, instead of simply reverting me. HaGamal 22:56, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I can't read the external link you provided on the article talkpage. I have now provided 4 sources that state that he was born in Buenos Aires. EP 23:19, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, now it's better. The thing is, in Hebrew Wikipedia we discussed what is Brailovsky's location of birth, and we decided to rely on the article in Maccabi Haifa's website, which claimed that he was born in Israel. HaGamal 14:16, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Club de Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata

[edit]

--Elnegrojose (talk) 19:50, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have corrected a number of issues with the article, date formatting, grammar and links to disambiguation pages. II can see that it still needs a lot of work to reach featured article status, but I'm not the man to help, I find the FA process to time consuming when there are hundreds of players, tournaments and other aspects of South American football with no articles at all. EP 20:49, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Muchas gracias English peasant!!!! Vi el trabajo que realizaste y realmente te agradezco. En lo que necesites me llamas. un abrazo. --Elnegrojose (talk) 20:17, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disruptive editors

[edit]

Hi there KING, VASCO from PORTUGAL here,

Browsing WP, i saw you had to restore an anonymous account edit, which included removal of links and refs (seen here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Livio_Prieto&diff=257777182&oldid=231865004). Well, my wiki-friend, i'll only say: user 92.4.94.151 is "also known" as PEP10 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Pep10) and PARARUBBAS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Pararubbas), with both accounts having been duly warned, including in Portuguese, my language and i reckon this person's too, because they operate almost exclusively on PORTUGUESE FOOTBALL and/or FOOTBALLERS...Oh by the way, here are both talk pages: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Pararubbas) and (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Pep10).

I am onto this like a wild lion to a gazelle and, having tipped off good admin SATORI SON (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Satori_Son), he has already warned and blocked aforementioned accounts. Both, as i said earlier, received numerous warnings, responding to...NONE!

Just so you know which way "things are going" with this individual, have a nice week,

Categories changed

[edit]

Hi there KING, VASCO from PORTUGAL here,

I don't like edit wars, and really respect other people's work, so now i proceed to send you a message to try and clear my doubts...

In Derlei's article, or so i thought (because when i copy/pasted some stuff in another article i was also editing i saw the same pattern and when i clicked in history and your contributions, i saw HUNDREDS of other players), i saw user KBDANK71 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Kbdank71#Edit_.22wars.22) proceeded to change the category FOOTBALL STRIKERS into FOOTBALL FORWARDS. I have already sent him a message and do the same with you because i noticed you also sent him one regarding this subject, so i can move from this to good clean nice teamwork from now on...

I can assure you DERLEI is a pure striker, just check his goal rate, here at "our site". Also rest assured i reverted it only once, nothing has been touched (or will be) by me from now on, until some other modus operandi emerges eventually.

From PORTUGAL, keep up the good work, VASCO AMARAL - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 01:10, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bicycle Kick

[edit]

This is to notify you of: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikiquette_alerts#User:King_of_the_North_East

"but "the game in which the bicycle kick was allegedly invented is older than 1894" is not supported by any of the following text in any way"

The statement is, quite obviously, supported by the prior text. Read the whole section before attempting to provide non-constructive criticism.

Additionally, if you see that this sentence is "gibberish": However, the game in which the bicycle kick was allegedly invented is older than 1894 as Jorge Basadre, a famous Peruvian historian, found what is thus far the oldest record of a football match in the Lima-Callao area of Peru to have been organized by Englishmen of the Lima Cricket and Football Club for a game between Chalacos and Limeans played in August 7, 1892;[48] meaning that by that time football had gained popular practice in Callao and Lima, which is a situation that is ahead of the introduction of football in Callao and the invention of the bicycle kick associated with it.

Fix it and show me how it is wrong. Because if you cannot fix it (without taking out things, which I know you're dying to), then there is no reason for you to say that it needs fixing. Have a fantastic day "respected editor."--[|!*//MarshalN20\\*!|] (talk) 14:18, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

(Editorial note: I restored the link to the Wikiquette alert raised in my name in order to prevent it dissapearing into the archives. I have nothing to hide and feel vindicated by the foul language used by this user when he realised the moderators would not join his vendetta against me. With hindsight I should have abandoned that article and attempts to communicate with that user long before I did.)

Seeking Peace

[edit]

I'd like to seek peace with you. I really have nothing against you and really do not care much to hold any sort of arguments with you. You were never part of the "original conflict" between me and "Selecciones de la Vida." I write this to you with all sincerity of the matter. However, I do not agree with your apparent hatred towards the "Peruvian Claim" of the bicycle kick article, and would greatly appreciate it if you could try to improve the rest of the article instead of making edits that attempt to delete or distort content from the "Peruvian Claim" section. If you do not find this as an acceptable ground for peace, then let it be forever written in the annals of this talk page (and Wikipedia) that I at least attempted to find a peaceful solution to our conflict.--[|!*//MarshalN20\\*!|] (talk) 07:14, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rant on and attack me on one page and come offering peace on another, good tactic. The article as it stands is in a terrible state, but there are many worse ones on English Wikipedia. I do not hate the Peruvian claim, and your continued accusations show that you have no sincerity in this peace offer at all. I have never stated the Kick was invented in Chile, I don't know where you get this idea from. I will take the page off my watchlist as it is clear that you will fight any attempted improvement as you have recently done over the insertion of uninteligable text and blatant POV. As far as I am concerned the article now belongs to you, do as you wish with it, add as much conjecture and POV as you like there are thousands of other articles I can improve without being fought off by the "owner". King of the North East 22:22, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Comment on Peter's RfA

[edit]

Sorry if I came on a bit strong, I simply wouldn't have taken it very well at all if I was in his situation. For the record, the criticism was not directed at you, it was directed at the comment, which I felt and still feel was inappropriate, or at least unnecessary. neuro(talk) 00:02, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your apology, although I dispute your claim that your comments were aimed at what I said "What I expect is for people to not be hateful and malicious, and to show some common decency by not being completely and utterly insolant" seems to be aimed at the person. I intended the comment in a light hearted way and feel that your response was far more insulting than the way I phrased my oppose. I have apologised on Peter's talkpage and he has been very understanding, no doubt one of the reasons he is so popular. I accept that the way I phrased my oppose was ill considered, but I think a well considered response would have illustrated the point a lot better than two "angry" responses. Anyhow, no hard feelings King of the North East 01:14, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I won't beat around the bush here. What I said was something I shouldn't have said, and I apologise. My comment was just as ill-considered as yours. I hope no offense has been taken. neuro(talk) 01:15, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I was offended, but since you took the time to apologise, consider it forgotten. King of the North East 01:22, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sortkey

[edit]

Hi there KING, VASCO from Portugal here,

About this article (Vitor Hugo Gomes Passos) and the defaulsort, here are my thoughts: I changed the sortkey to PELE (with no accents) because that is how player is known, not by any of his surnames. So, when a person did a search in FC PORTO FOOTBALLERS, he would be where he should, in letter "P". As a matter of fact, User:Matthew hk redirected it to PASSOS as first surname, which also begins with "P", but in many other cases it does not match.

Do not wish any edit wars, so i will leave it that way, but i think the defaultsort should contain the footballer's main name, even if it is a nickname. See for instance this example, Rubén Gracia, aka CANI. Why should the defaultsort not be his nickname, and why should it be GRACIA or RUBEN instead? I am somewhat confused.

Keep up the good work, VASCO AMARAL - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 21:57, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request

[edit]

Hi there KING, hope all's fine by you,

Just found out this now, thus my request: there is one article about Rabiola, and another on Tiago André Coelho Lopes, but both are the same person/player. Could you be so kind to do a "merge"? I don't know how. I would appreciate if that merged used the storyline from the latter, it's more complete.

Thanks in advance, kind regards,

VASCO AMARAL - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 19:01, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry mate, I'm not an admin. I'll ask someone who is. King of the North East 19:07, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Another request

[edit]

Hi there KING, VASCO here again,

ty very much for your previous help, nice teamwork. Here's another request (i know i am getting a bit "annoying" :)) Could you please change the name in this player's article, Jorge Manuel Amador Guelfo? I have already improved storyline, added link and cleaned-up INFOBOX, but don't know how to change his last name to the correct form "GALUFO", which is backed up by (new) external link.

I heard once, when i was anonymous, that registered users could change names in articles. Can you teach me how, so i do not have to bother you again with these matter? Ty again in advance.

Cheers, VASCO AMARAL - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 03:30, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disruptive editor

[edit]

Hi there KING, VASCO here,

I bring to you a highly disruptive editor, anonymous IP 92.4.253.48 ("contributions" here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/92.4.253.48). I checked, out of sheer hazard Bruno Alves' article and, there it was: POV/WEASEL, but the most important, this person inserts info that is not true, at all. For instance, it says there that he bought the club Varzim Sport Club alongside his brother and bought João Vieira Pinto (38 years old) out of retirement. By the way, if you check ALVES brother's article, Geraldo Alves, you will see that my anonymous IP removed a lot of info, which was full of the three things i duly acuse him of (POV/WEASEL/LIES), you will see it says ("said") in "PERSONAL LIFE" that he is married to actress Lúcia Moniz and they have two sons, one named BRUNO to honour his brother. What a load of rubbish!! I checked several sites on this singer/actress, and it is not true.

Also, and in another striking pattern of this person's obsession, he also inserted that former players João Pinto (already mentioned in this message, above) and Ricardo Sá Pinto (both retired) now play for Varzim (also mentioned above)...LIE!!! I mentioned pattern because the ALVES brothers were born in that city (Póvoa de Varzim) and began playing football at that club. He also operates with many, many IP, and also gave me a hard time with Arnaldo Edi Lopes da Silva and Juanfran (both AEK players, as GERALDO ALVES, more patterns).

I hope something can be done, cheers and keep up the good work,

VASCO AMARAL - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 04:20, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what can be done about it, the IP seems to be from a mobile phone network (Carphone Warehouse) but if they are like the persistant IP vandals I have came across that get fixated on adding one particular bit of misinformation, they change IP all the time, see Ignacio Scoco & Argentina Squad 2004 Summer Olympics. Boca's Crest

[edit]

Hi there, At was just looking at the boca jr's page and I noticed their crest is the old one with the stars. I think that crest is still the official one, but boca has been using the one with three stars only. Would you add the current crest along with the other ones they used in the past? (NEW) Football vandal

[edit]

Hi there KING, VASCO here,

Being this a football "user" and you a member of "the force": Check out this new contributor, JESSEMON111 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Jessemon111), he logged in today. Incredibly, while most vandals seem to almost exclusively edit anonymously, this idiot (don't fret, i know where i'm heading) went through the trouble of registering to write foul language, lies, the whole ordeal.

Here's an example (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Salvador_Ballesta&diff=prev&oldid=269917615), hope he can be put offside.

Cheers, VASCO AMARAL - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 02:07, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Argentine Primera

[edit]

The Clausura already started... 1 game so far. With the 19 from Apertura, that makes 20. Digirami (talk) 03:31, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. I've removed the prod from this article because Rodríguez has played a few matches in the Primera A. During an AfD for another Primera A player, someone uncovered a source which showed the Primera A is fully pro. I don't believe it's a good idea to have articles on all Primera A players, but this particular player has a spot on his parent club which does play in the Primera and he will probably get some exposure there eventually. If you want to start an AfD on Rodríguez, I'm not even sure I would !vote keep, but I think it's best to decide there rather than through a prod. Best regards. Jogurney (talk) 03:31, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough, there was nothing in the article to indicate that he had played professionally, now that you have found a source I will leave it as it is. As for Primera A, and Primera B Nacional for that matter, I can't see any harm in allowing players from these leagues since most Football League Two players have articles. [edit]

Thanks. I'll add the additional players that have played for the team into the Peru at the FIFA World Cup article in a section entitled "Current Qualifier" (which has a series of sub-sections, including the players, but also having things such as the scores and tables).--[|!*//MarshalN20\\*!|] (talk) 00:18, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Dani C.

[edit]

It does appear to be a hoax. Globo Esporte tracks the Copa do Brasil, and he did not play in in the 2007 or 2008 Copa. I'd like to search a bit more to see if I can find any more sources that might show who played for Madureira and Bangu. Jogurney (talk) 17:08, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That player is Brazilian and has a different birthdate. I suspect that the user who created the Dani C. article was trying to cover a Romanian footballer. I'm not sure there is such a player in Brazil, but I don't think he meant to create an article on Cortes. Jogurney (talk) 23:45, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
