SDF or Kurds[edit]

Hi,

We (contributors to the map) already discussed this, for example here. Word "Kurds" is not appropriate because it's YPG plus some other factions. Please revert to previous version. Syrian Civil War and ISIL general sanctions[edit]

Please read this notification carefully, it contains important information about an administrative situation on Wikipedia. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.

A community decision has authorised the use of general sanctions for pages related to the Syrian Civil War and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. Sheikh Issa[edit]

Fars News is Iran's state TV no different from SANA or Sputnik, and the Al Jazeera source I posted was literally seconds before my edit. That is far more up to date than six days, please revert your own edit. NightShadeAEB (talk) 15:50, 22 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A whole family was killed by a Russian air strike on February 19 [2]. More fighting and at least ten Russian air strikes happening today [3] [4]. It's clear the reports regarding Sheikh Issa were as premature as the reports regarding Marea, if you remember. Please revert your edits [User:Kordestani]. The head of Kurdistan24 News channel said Sultan Abdullah was held by ISIS!: https://twitter.com/BarzanSadiq/status/705330333668024320 How can you deny ISIS holds this village when a pro-Kurdish news source reports it? Simply saying "Villages in west bank of Tigris are liberated by Peshmerga in last year" is not good enough. Frontlines can change over time. ISIS can recapture this village. SDF[edit]

Kurds is the official designation for the ethnic group. And even if it was the general term for all Kurdish groups as you say (personal POV not allowed), the map marks SDF-held territory, not Kurdish-held territory. The map represents territory held by the Syrian Democratic Forces, which is the official and common name (per Wikipedia policy) of the organisation/beligerent in question, same as everybody else marked on the map. And the SDF does not include just the Kurds, but also former Arab rebel groups, as well as some Christian groups. I see someone already explained this to you already on your talk page a month ago. Consensus via talk page was established among editors to use the common term SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces). That you don't consider them democratic is your personal POV from which you must refrain when editing Wikipedia. I can not revert you know due to the policy of only one allowed revert per 24 hours. So I ask you to revert yourself and stick to established Wikipedia policy and editor consensus. Thank you. EkoGraf (talk) 18:24, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
