June 2023[edit]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at List of mayors of Bath, you may be blocked from editing. Don't get into an edit war by adding unreferenced content. If you can find a reference that supports the appointment of a new mayor then please add it back with the reference in the article not the edit summary. 10mmsocket (talk) 14:24, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello 10mmsocket, I have provided evidence in my previous edits in the form of this link https://bathnewseum.com/2023/06/03/its-dines-day/ clearly showing and explaining that on the 3rd of June 2023 the new Mayor of Bath has been sworn into office. This is very common news for Bathonians, and I would like to to my duty as a citizen of Bath to ensure that there is accurate information online about this.
I am sorry, I do not know what other evidence you would like, not only have hundreds of people witnessed the ceremony, in the article also provided there is photographic and written evidence clearly stating the matter as well.
Thanks. Kotsioss (talk) 16:04, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You put a URL into an edit summary. That is not a reference. See the help above on "Citing sources". You need to put references into the body of the article, not the edit summary. Look at how other people have done it in the article, or ask for help. 10mmsocket (talk) 16:16, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello 10mmsocket,
I am confused, I do nto see 'references' for most of the previous mayors on the list. Why is that then, and would that require us now to collect references for the previous mayors? Kotsioss (talk) 16:24, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
"Other stuff exists" doesn't work as an argument on Wikpedia. WP:ONUS means all information added must be verifiable - and that's up to you as the person adding it. If existing content in the article is unreferenced then it is reasonable to tag it as unreferenced by putting {{citation needed}} after it, and if nothing is done within a reasonable period then the information can be deleted. However, with new information that needs to be cited straight away otherwise it's perfectly reasonable to revert it as I have done. It looks like you do not a reliable source WP:RS yet - what you have is a blog, which goes against the ban on user-generated content WP:UGC and self published sources WP:SPS. It needs to be a reference from a reputable source. A personal blog isn't that. 10mmsocket (talk) 16:44, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Looking good. Thank you. 10mmsocket (talk) 21:54, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
