Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 1998 in film, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Behind the Lines (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Woodlawn Cemetery (Bronx)

[edit]

Don't forget to add Category:Burials at Woodlawn Cemetery (Bronx) and to add "place of burial:Woodlawn Cemetery" in Wikidata too. If you are getting the info from Findagrave there is findagrave:000000 at Wikidata too. If you need help, just let me know. I completed the last one, but just saw you have many people. Wikidata lets you run searches such as how many people at Woodlawn that are in Wikipedia are male and how many female, or make me a list of occupations of people buried there, or who was the earliest person buried there. see: [1] --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 21:17, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Are you going to do the Wikidata portion too? Check out this search of Wikidata: Burials at Woodlawn Cemetery --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 01:09, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It is easy, just make sure you are logged in to Wikidata. Start at the Wikipedia biography and click on the left under the tools menu to "wikidata item" that takes you to the corresponding page in wikidata. For Bobby Clark it is https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4934863 or just d:Q4934863. I go to the bottom of the list of data, and click "add" I start typing in "Findagrave" and it auto-completes and I just cut and paste in the number from Findagrave. Then I hit add again and start typing in "burial..." to find the field for burials and cut and paste in "Woodlawn Cemetery" and the pulldown menu will give me all the cemeteries with that name and I choose the one in the Bronx. If you click "add" a third time, it will suggest fields that are empty that need filling, for instance his place of birth is empty. The problem you may encounter is that Wikidata may have 5 cemeteries or cities with the same name and you cannot figure which is which. For "Woodlawn Cemetery" I added a "Description" for each one to distinguish them by looking at what city they were in. Sometimes I had to go to the Wikipedia page to get that info. Try adding in some of the missing data for Bobby Clark and see if you are comfortable with the process. What is nice, is that Wikidata is still experimental and people are not uptight about mistakes, they will help you correct them. In Wikipedia someone may come along and delete the category for the burials or remove the burials from the page for the cemetery, I have been fighting that for 10 years. In Wikidata preserving data is more important. If you get stuck, just write me again.
  • "Find a Grave grave ID " id for the grave of an individual. The other is for entries on that specific cemetery. You just add the number of the grave. For Clark I just added "7461977" at the very bottom of Findagrave of each Findagrave entry is the text: "Find A Grave Memorial# 7461977", just cut and paste the number. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 19:13, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
