A tag has been placed on Kevin Lapsley, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Orange Mike | Talk 18:31, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

What content that is being contributed by this account is not factual and not backed up by public reference and properly cited? Kevin Lapsley has been actively contributing to the creative film industry for over 20 years and because he is not famous you are arguing that the references are not facts, even though again, they are. I have just looked through the Guide to appealing blocks, so because we took the time to create a user name that wasn't "JediKnight200456" you believe that we are spam and advertising. I would argue we have been in good faith attempting to provide properly created content, following within the wikipedia guidelines, to contribute to our world culture, telling the story of us. Which we believed is what Wikipedia was about. If Wikipedia is only for famous people, you should clearly list that in the mission statement.

Decline reason:

You forgot to pick a new username and you don't seem to have read WP:COI, WP:PAID, or WP:PROMO, all of which you've violated. Additionally, we do not permit shared accounts. Yamla (talk) 21:20, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

So, in setting out to create the Kevin Lapsley article page other actors and internet entrepreneurs pages were used as templates to see what was done on their pages. That is why certain information was placed on the Kevin Lapsley page. For example, why is the George Clooney page allowed to have his occupation and production company "Smoke House Pictures" without any reference or citations otherwise? KSKM is a real production company. CoachLinked is a real company. These are facts. So, information was simply listed as facts on the Kevin Lapsley page as well. And, basically this is why a lot of the information was placed on the Kevin Lapsley article page. For example again, Brad Pitt has "Pitt's acting career began in 1987, with uncredited parts in the films No Way Out, No Man's Land and Less Than Zero." Kevin Lapsley did uncredited work in movies as well, and since these are facts, it was assumed that IMDb was a creditable source to trace timeline, projects and box-office grosses, because Fox News hasn't ever done an article on Kevin Lapsley's uncredited acting work in movies that have grossed over a billion dollars, which again are facts because you can watch these movies and see him on screen. Again, I understand that creating on Wikipedia is a learning curve. That is listed all over. Everything that was placed on the page was created because it was seen on other pages all over Wikipedia. Even like now, I see that whomever removed a lot of the content from the Kevin Lapsley article page, whatever works. But it still seems very subjective. Again, on the George Clooney page his filmography lists projects that don't have wiki links or citation like "Grizzly II: The Predator" or even take for example an unknown independent director Daniel Myrick he has a project that doesn't have an internal wiki link or citation, so do tons of other lesser known directors. So, yeah, again, tried to stick to neutral facts, that were public and have been publicly listed for years assuming the truth would be fine. I see that the article link that literally has Kevin talking on the radio for a half hour about the public screening of the feature film that he directed was removed, not sure why that isn't a credible fact that validates information that can be listed. But yeah, guess I will just have to read up on what is credible, and not credible, I'm sure there is a list somewhere. Would like to resolve the account suspension. It's like heading down a rabbit hole trying to figure out what's what on here, so if you can just let me know what else needs to be done if that is an option. Thanks.

Decline reason:

You seem to misunderstand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not free ad space. We don't have articles on just anybody, and there's no indication Lapsley meets our standards of inclusion. Even if he did, you violated the username policy by choosing a username that implies shared use, you appear to have violated the Terms of Use by not disclosing that you're a paid contributor, and you have violated Wikipedia's policies against spam by writing a blatantly promotional page. You have addressed none of those issues. Huon (talk) 00:49, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
